Not a moral victory as much as significant improvement on offense that may carry into even next season with Mettenberger at QB

Just because we aren't kicking the do an beating the wife doesn't mean we aren't disappointed with the loss...but my god, it wasn't the last game LSU will play.

I hate to agree with the OP but I kind of do. I'm glad we turned the corner offensively but Jesus, we were 6 yards away from potentially another conference title and maybe national title. I know everyone's thrilled about out gaining Bama but it's going to take me a while to have that same enthusiastic spark. Since January, the arrogance of Bama fans have been unbearable. NOBODY in the media was giving us a chance. And there were are, 2 minutes away from laughing our arse off at all the crow everybody was fixing to eat. And now we have to wait another year for a shot at them. All that defensive talent that's going to the NFL. I'm damn proud of the team but the way some people talk on here, you'd think we won. Some even sound like the Gumps after last year's game. I'm in no way a negatiger, but this one stings. I wish I could get over it as easily as some other fans.

Moral victories? This has nothing to do with morality.

One of the possible outcomes in sports is that you play a hell of a game against a tough opponent and lose.

If you can't handle that, you need to find a different hobby than sportsfan.

Stop being a bitch about people not bitching. There is a game Saturday against Moo State. How are we going to stop that vaunted Dan Mullen offense?

Look, I felt physically ill after they scored the TD. The remainder of that night, and most of Sunday, I was really depressed about it. But, we lost, that won't change, and real life goes on.

And there are many positives to take from the game. Lesticles resurfaced (too much for some folks, despite most screaming he'd become too conservative), Mett finally looked like the star we hoped he'd be, O and D looked inspired, WRs made great catches instead of drops, etc. Only dropping two spots in the BCS confirms to me that outsiders saw these positives as well. And these sure seem to bode well for the future.

We need to learn from the mistakes and reinforce the positives. What else can we do?

You're not part of the team. They played well, but made some mistakes that cost us the game. You might have been screaming in the stands, and granted it was a huge aspect of atmosphere, but we saw some great things from this team. I'm proud of them. Sometimes you get beat.

Apparently pout and sulk until next november.

Good thing the coaches and players have a 24 hour rule....because it looks like a lot of our fans can't cope.

The problem is there were many LSU fans and people around the country that were starting to tthink bama was starting to leave LSU behind, almost like they were in a leauge of their own.

Obv after sat night.. even with a loss we see thats not the case.
You win some, you fricking lose some when you play the best.

They played the potential NC team, #1 ranked, down to the wire, and all you can see is how bad it was?

How are you gonna feel when Saban hoists that crystal ball for the 2nd year in a row, and we end up with nothing? Are you ok with playing them down to the wire and losing, as long as they go on to win the NC? That's defeatist mentality. We deserved to win, but the coaches fricked it up. It is what it is. We can take positives from the game, but I'm not about to claim a victory of any kind. We lost. That's all that matters.

Who else you going to go and get? Under Les I seam to recall that our only loss to an OCC was to Penn State. You know Les is the reason why the SEC is the best. You know when OCC's play us they are going to lose. Big 10, Pac 12, ACC, Little 12 and anyone else. You want to know something else, I remember that Iowa game, and someone else lost to Utah. Complain all you want to but you are not going to find anyone in Les's leauge. Better be glad you have him and please don't piss him off so he runs back to the
Big 10 and plays with the Urban myth.

Lighten up, Francis.

LSU was #5 in the BCS before this weekend, we loss a game, and dropped to #7 in the BCS.

Tells me, L or not, that a lot of "experts" were impressed by the LSU effort/team.

L, or not, that's never a bad thing.

If you can't handle being "razzed", perhaps you should give up being a sports fan and take up knitting.

no one is claiming a moral victory dick nose. You can still take a lot of positives out of the loss.

I still get sick thinking about the loss, but its not all doom and gloom either.

There is no moral victory. The team played great Saturday night....

Herm Edwards - "You play to win the game! You play to win the game!"

I support and love LSU Tigers.....but there in NO moral victory. Play to win or go home.

Not a moral victory at all. Just happy that we played well. We are equal to Alabama and came up a little short this year.

Also, regardless of the outcome, there is appreciation from a "sporting" standpoint to see 2 great teams battle each other. The last 1:37 of that game cannot take away the experience I and 93,000 others had at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.
