Walking Dead Spoiler Question regarding the Comics

Does the Governor have a warped right-hand man in the comics? How closely does the TV Governor resemble the comic Governor?
Posted on 10/28/12 at 9:32 pm to Cold Pizza
He doesn't resemble the comic one at all in appearance. Think Danny trejo with an eye patch.
He has plenty of fricked up people helping him. The doctor is in the comic. Merle is not.
I'm not sure how much you want me to give away about him.....I don't want to spoil stuff...,just let me know.

This isn't that kind of thread.

Yes. The governor s a fricked up dude. His daughter turned and he still has her in his house, locked up. Not sure if they will use that.
He also puts on fights in a stadium. People fighting zombies.
He rapes michonne in the comics.
Also the introduction to him is slightly different in the comics. Is isn't just Andrea and michonne that meet him initially.
Rick gets taken too.....governor cuts ricks hand off and imprisons them after being hospitable. He also tortures Glenn. He feeds ricks hand to his zombie daughter.
They eventually get free...michonne returns the favor by cutting out his eye, his arm, and his dick.
He survives bc michonne doesn't have time to finish the job.
He eventually meets up with Rick and group, but that's as far as I will say.
In the comics the doctor knows what a fricked up dude he is and tries to get away.
The governor does have a right hand man. Bruce cooper.

I heard they are leaving out the fact that he cuts off rick's hand.

Me too. It's too expensive apparently to have an amputee with a full arm IRL.
This is him btw

looks more like Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid

I don't buy the "too expensive" argument. The show is filled w zombies, how is making ricks hand amputated more expensive then designing hundreds of zombies?

Not to mention they did it to Merle. The main reason is I think the writer of the comics decided he made a mistake by doing that to Rick and wished he hadn't done it, so he changed it for the show.

So as awesome as Season 3 is, is it possible the show could end up being better than the comics? Don't hate me for asking the question.

It could be better. It is awesome seeing it play out on the screen. The comics were better than season 1 and 2.
However the last two episodes last season exceeded what I thout of the comics. The whole first half of season 2 sucked bc none of that Sofia shite happened.
They'll need to go really, really dark to surpass the comics. Not sure how far they will go with it, but I think I know how they'll end the season. People will be happy is all I will say
The season has been phenomenal so far. I said this would be by far the best season before it started and it is living up to that billing. They just need to continue sticking with the comics which they got back on track the last two episodes of season 2.

Well, the show has left out one of the best characters from the comics, so that would be difficult, and also particularly difficult since the first two seasons sucked compared to the comics, so they'd have alot of making up to do to even be even with the comics.
This season has definitely been on par with the comics however, very pleased with season 3 so far after giving up on the show for most of season 2.

Lori and the baby are killed by the Governor? Remember this IS the spoiler thread. (I've read the comic synopsis, but not the comics themselves.)
I think they don't kill Lori off, or at least not yet. They can't do it because people expect it.

I hope this is where it ends but I just don't see them being killed. Lori is already incredibly annoying, imagine her with a baby.

Correct. Although I don't think people would expect them to kill off a baby. Everyone knows Lori is gonna die just due to the fact that she's a worthless dumbass. Lori needs to be killed to advance the story. Hopefully they don't let it drag out like they did with Shane. If you know from the comics he was killed much earlier than he was in the show. Lori will die. It has to happen to develop Rick and Carl further as a character.
That would be my guess. I really don't see where else they could end the season via a cliff hanger. Maybe they can dedicate more than one season to the prison, but I don't see it.

did anyone think the convo btwn andrea and michonne on the street about the "fork through the eyeball" was a comic shout out??
Posted on 10/30/12 at 11:34 am to TDTGodfather
frick it, I'll see where this road ends since I ignored the sign....
So, Merle wasn't w the Govnuh in the comix...would make more sense in the show that if Rick does lose a hand, it would be by Merle's revenge, no?

yeah it would, but they already said they aren't doing it. the author regrets taking rick's hand in the comics, so they are not going to do it in the show.

also did anyone else think the big black guy they kept showing helping the gov looked like tyrese?
