One cannot understand the incomprehensible. CLM has no offense for years now. A coach like Saban will beat this kind of LSU team 9/10 times. Again, if an offense has no ability to keep the defense off balance to some degree, it will not likely be successful.

21-0 says everything. Saban adjusted, Miles, well you know the answer.

. I've seen high powered LSU offenses put up phenomenal numbers and then lose the game. No thank you, I'll take an ugly W over a stat padded L. Stats don't win games, scoring more points than your opponents does.

Obviously and I remember 1998 where the offense put up 36 points every game but we still lost. But why on earth would Chavis forget defense just bc the offends isn't going 3 and out?

Do you realize how dumb it is to justify the bad offense by saying we'd lose if we scored more?

LSU often "out talents" other teams

13 penalties for 102 yards is all part of the genius of les miles

Ive got a question. Ive seen posted all over this board that Chavis is the reason for our success because he is in complete control of the defense and without him Miles would be fired. Now I also see that this team is "undisciplined because of penalties" and its Miles' fault. Now there were plenty on both sides and that must be corrected. However the majority of repeat offenders came on defense. Specifically Mingo had 3 offsides. So....why does Miles get no credit for the defensive success but all the blame for when it fails?

When did I justify the offense? I think it was pretty obvious when I noted it as being "inept" and "pathetic".

It just doesn't negate the fact that Les has a strategy to win that doesn't necessarily require a highly functioning offense.

I wish we had a better O but we don't. Hasn't stopped us from winning...

You're right , you didn't justify it. My bad. It was just the way you said you'd prefer an ugly W over a high stat L. Bc those aren't the only options.

For the record I'd prefer a pretty W over an ugly W

Oh, I thought Les is smarter because he brings the opposition down to his level and then beats them with experience.

I hear this all the time and I can't help but think of Jim Harbaugh and the 49'ers who play the same way as LSU for the most part and people call them a great team. They play stout defense and will pound it down your throat on offense with marginal quarterback play. I don't hear 49 er fans bitching that their team wins games 13-6.

I may be crucified for this but I believe Miles style translates very well to the NFL. Tough physical teams that fight and scratch you for everything and play great special teams is seemingly the formula for winning football in the NFL these days. Hell, Christian Ponder threw 2Ints and had a total of sub 90 yards passing, and the Vikings sit at 5-2 and a threat to make the playoffs.

"I appreciate your support and optimism. But what we have is a program that will fall short must years- lose 1-2 games-
We are NOT fundamentally sound- if we were the penalties and poor execution would not be there consistently."

Someone understands what's going on. No reason for this number of penalties and poor execution at this point of the season. Coaching starts with fundamentals. Hope Les gets their attention. Big game in two weeks.

LSU led the nation in penalties in 03 and 07.

but, but, but we need to fire him and hire the west virginia coach (a genius) or the tcu coach (another genius). they have high powered offenses that are creative.

it's hell to be disgusted with your offense tho.

I don't want to fire Les Miles. I wish he'd stop meddling in the offense, which appears greatly detrimental to the team as evidenced by an offense that has and continues to vastly underwhelm and under-perform the most reasonable of expectations.

Sorry, but Miles philosophy doesn't call for constant 3 and outs.

Miles is playing old man football... smashmouth football. Which is perfectly fine. It is the best style of football to win games, in my opinion.

The problem is that there is a lack of execution on offense.

The STYLE of play isn't the problem. It is the execution and lack of discipline of LSU's team. Too many penalties and a lack of execution."

Whose responsibility is that? Sir you nailed it!

It's entirely possible to have a suffocating defense (we do), and still have a well-oiled machine of an offense that can score in the red zone, doesn't commit stupid penalties, executes well, and has big-play capability.

Bama has both of those right now. We have only one. Doesn't mean we won't win, but it very frustrating to see our biggest rival have seemingly easy success where we have failure, ineptitude, and discombobulation.

The fact that passing yards are at an all time high kind of proves you wrong.
