For those of you who don't know, Nicolas Chauvin was a soldier in La Grande Armee who was well-known for his extreme loyalty to France and to Napoleon. Eventually, his last name became the eponym for chauvinism, a word for extreme loyalty to a nation, to an individual, to a cause, etc. Ironically, the name Chauvin is not uncommon in Louisiana, and there's even a town, in Louisiana, named Chauvin.

Sometimes, many of the positigers must be channeling Nicolas Chauvin because they eagerly "kill the messenger" every time a so-called negatiger offers some constructive criticism. Instead, we should all agree that diversity of opinion should be encouraged, not discouraged. In the end, we are all proud Tiger fans, and we should treat each other accordingly.

a lot of fans react negatvely immediately after a game, and then cool down after they think about things in perspective.

the only real negatigers are those who can't appreciate the good things and the good qualities of our coaching staff. Nobody's perfect. Not even Saint Nick.

those other schools have good coaches and good players, and they are trying to win.

But I got no problems with anyone presenting legitimate concerns and pointing out negatives.

everyone in life has strengths. Our strengths are also our greatest weaknesses. Our success is largely based on recognizing our strengths and compensating for how they also make us weak.

Coach Miles hard-headedness, or singlemindedness is a strength, but also a weakness. for one example. He knows what he wants to do, what kind of players and what kind of team he wants, and he goes about that very well. The weakness comes in not being able to make adjustments in a timely fashion. He'll generally get around to them, but maybe too late to salvage a game or two.

There is a difference between contructive criticism (something that helps the team AKA nothing that could ever happen on this website, realistic criticism (pointing out how bad Josh D had played earlier), and systematic overreactions (Les Miles WILL NEVER WIN AGAIN type stuff)

Most people are blind dude - the "negatigers" have valid points, but people choose to call them negatigers instead of listening.

Obviously enough people were pissed off with LSU's performance the first 5 or so weeks that CLM made some changes....for the better thankfully.

Because it is rarely constructive. Bitching or putting down the team or coaches is not constructive criticism.

For those of you who really want to know -

quote:

Historical research has not identified any biographical details of a real Nicolas Chauvin, leading to the claim that he may have been a wholly fictional figure. Researcher Gérard Puymège concludes that "Nicolas Chauvin did not exist.

To OP

You are trying to make it seem like jingoism and blind zeal when it is merely common patriotism to support one's own country (team/players/coach).

Those who support do so knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the coach/team/players and are aware that the sum total of all the pluses and minuses is a huge positive. The results speak for themselves and the day that changes, I am sure the fans will also change their minds and hope that the administration will make the necessary changes.

A negatiger is not someone with a criticism. A negatiger is that guy who makes watching a Tiger game so difficult because every play that doesn't work out perfectly is another example of why we need to get rid of Miles. You all know the type. And a lot of them post here.

Constructive Criticism is "Our Offensive line needs to hold their blocks longer and reduce their number of penalties". What you get is "Miles doesn't know what the frick he is doing. He and Stud do nothing but eat Ensmingers sauce instead of trying to improve our shitty line play".

Constructive Criticism is "We need improved play calling and execution of those plays in order to be better in the red zone". What you get is "Miles doesn't know his Xs and Os and calls the same shite every time while Stud is in the press box eating Zebra Cakes".

I could go on but I think the point is made.

bullshite. I will listen to any and all criticisms of Les Miles and this team. Nothing wrong with the criticisms.

However, people need to keep some perspective. When you criticize, you better have a solution, and that solution better be something you can back up.

Let me give you an example of how not to do it:

"Josh Dworaczyk is playing poorly" - OK, I'm listening...

"Josh Dworaczyk is playing poorly and needs to be benched" - ...

"Josh Dworaczyk is playing poorly and needs to be benched in favor of [insert random, unproven player]" - Umm, no. No way for you to make a case that it will be better for the team. Saying it can't get any worse is not going to cut it.

"Josh Dworaczyk is playing poorly and needs to be benched in favor of [insert random, unproven player], but this will never happen because JD is one of Stud and Miles' favorites" - Complete bullshite. Nega-Tiger.

Constructive criticism my arse!!! It's almost like the negatigers are waiting for LSU to lose so that they can come out acting like epitome of perfection!
Losses happen in any game (yeah, some of them are ugly!).
We have a coach who wins a lot. Obviously, he knows what he is doing (for the most part ) and I believe he is in a better position to make a decision about ANYTHING than ANYONE here. How hard is it to go support the team/coaches? Negatigers should stop living their lives through LSU football. And acting like the team/coaches let them down and screwed their livelihoods is not cool.
