Scariest tree stand moment

With all this talk of people falling out of trees, it got me thinking. Anyone ever had a close call?
When I was young and dumb I thought it would be a good idea to substitute a lost pin with a fake bullet on my keychain for my ol' man climber. After about four feet it snapped off and there I went. Foot got caught in the strap and escaped with a slight sprain. Glad it happened before I got 25 ft up...
Thoughts?

During my teen years I fell asleep and fell 12 feet from a ladder stand. Had an arrow nocked. Could have been bad

I've had nightmares about falling on a broad head and catching it with my throat... Scary shite right there.

Ladder stand 15'
Fell asleep and slumped forward. Woke up on the balls of my feet about to fall foward.
So freaked out I packed my shite and went to the camp

Fell asleep with a harness on. I woke up leaning forward staring at the ground

That's exactly what I did with no harness on

No harness
I quit doing that about 5 years ago. There's really no excuse for it these days. You can get some that are super comfortable and light...

unfortunately, too many to count.
fortunately, no serious injuries.

Its retarded not to wear one.
Last time I went bow hunting I wore my harness and felt comfortable while climbing and sitting even if i dozed off

Never mess around with no harness but I've never had a close call of falling.
I never used to tie my base to the seat of my climber. One day I thought "why not?" and tied it. About 20 ft up, it worked. The line held as my base slipped out of reach of my feet. I had to pull it back up and got a serious tricep workout that day.

LSU was playing in a bowl game about 10 years ago and it was snowing/sleeting in BR it was worse north of here. I was hunting out of sycamore and everything was icing up but I was seeing deer steady so my dumb arse stayed put. Went to climb down and ice was stick on tree, slid most of the way down before I got base to bite. Tether was too long so I seat was above me basically, nothing broke but shoulders were fried.

Four years ago, i was in my climber about 25 feet up a pine. Must have lost a pin from the bottom half of my climber, bottom came loose and fell. I had a rope from the top to the bottom but the pin was on the ground. So im sitting up there trying to figure out what the hell i was gonna do ( yes i had my cell but no service). This was a morning hunt so no one would be looking for a while. I dropped down hanging from the shooting rail on the climber and thought for a sec about dropping. After a sec i said frick that and swung to the tree and shimmied down the pine a few feet then jumped for my life. I hit the ground and rolled GI joe style. That was the scariest two seconds of free fall ever.

Sir, I'm just gonna say that putting a fake bullet as a pin was a BAD move
My strap from the top to my bottom of my ole man stand has saved me the agony (that I hope to never have to do) of shimming down a tree

I had a strap, but no pin. On top of that i had to go get my other climber to climb up to get the other climber down. What a day

I REALLY wanted to hunt that day...

Them damn Ol' Mans. I was sitting down before daylight after I had gotten settled in. Well I always stand up for a while once it starts gettin light. Soon as I stood up the bottom slipped about 2 feet down and then caught!
I thought I was a goner for about a second and my heart didn't stop beating fast for about 20 minutes

i'm fortunate
the scariest moment i've had in a tree stand was a couple weeks ago.
it's not fun being the guy putting up a new stand...climbing up the stand 17 ft to secure it to the tree

Been there done that too. Only way hugging a tree is acceptable on the OB
