Legend has it ours was supposed to be "Deaf Valley" but in coonass country "deaf" and "death" are homophones...

True about death valley. Not sure about Tiger Rag, but the damn song is a jazz song, an artform that originated in New Orleans LOUISIANA, the song was written and first performed in LOUISIANA, so I think it's only fair that LSU, you know, LOUISIANA State University, gets to claim it. This is purely my opinion.
Oh, and frick off, too.

if you believe wikipedia it says clemson adopted the song in 1942.
and does not list a date for LSU. but lists it became popular by dixieland jazz band in 1917.
you would think btwn its start in nola and arriving in clemson decades later, it had made a stop in baton rouge.
i have no citations about the stadium but actually heard clemson was first with the name. which i give two shits about when you actually compare our place to theirs. everyone knows where the real death valley is...

Supposedly a Clemson opponent's coach told Clemson's Frank Howard that playing there was like playing Death Valley - which ostensibly would have been in the 40's or 50's.
I know LSU was called Death Valley as early as the 60's, maybe even after Billy Cannon's run.
But really, if there are only 2 stadiums in CFB called Death Valley, WTF does it really matter whose was named first? Our Death Valley has a "Welcome" sign that was nationally talked about in Sports Illustrated and even lauded.
Plus, our Death Valley during a big Saturday night game (like the one this Saturday) makes Memorial Stadium in Clemson sound like a sign language workshop in the Helen Keller room in the basement of LSU's Nicholson Library.....
As for Tiger Rag, that song is played by Clemson, Auburn, and LSU. I know it has origins in the Quarter jazz clubs from the early 1900's. But again, it doesn't matter really....

yea i know to yall it isnt just because of the clear superiority yall have over them in everyway imaginable. its just gets on my nerves when they go on about being so good and just thinking that they really are better than everyone else. dabo swinney is a clown.

They had the original Death Valley. But not by much. Not sure about Tiger Rag though.

Tell them they can claim it... and that they remain otherwise irrelevant.
