Checked out one of their CD's from the library (The Grand Theatre volume 1) and really like their sound. Can anyone recommend their best album or at least their top three, and what order you would suggest to buy? It looks like they have a fairly significant catalog of albums.

I think Too Far to Care is the best...
The rest are just OK, but all have some good tunes...
Holy Cross is my favorite song, but Ive only been able to find it on some obscure compilation
here is a live version by Rhett solo... Holy Cross

I would recommend Fight Songs.

I guess it would depend on what you liked in them... this one is more of their pop side, where as Too Far... is a lot twangier...
Anyway, give 'em a listen... enjoy...
Another one of my favorites off of Hitchhike to Rhome
504 (live)

the one with Rollerskate Skinny. Saw them live a few years back, and they put on a solid show. really enjoy them.

I moived to Dalas in 1992 and a friend of mine was dating one of the guys in the band so I used to go to their early shows. I love the first album Hitchhike to Rhome but that is due to the fact it brings back good memories of the live shows.
Four Leaf Clover is great to me, saw them do it live with Exene Cervenka in San Fran a few years ago at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival. I think they always put on a great show.
I really can't narrow down my three favorite albums as I like them all and all have solid songs on them.

Different people will like different stuff from them. What I like, I like a lot. That would be Fight Songs. I don't really care for anything else. The vocals tend to be lazy/sloppy.

Great band, I enjoy all of their records. Their last two, the Grand Theatre 1 and 2 have been up there with their best. I've never gotten to see them live but from what I've heard they put on a hell of a show.
This is correct.

"Wreck your life" with "Too Far to Care" a close second.
Both of those are essential listening.
Saw them live a few years ago at the HOB in New Orleans. Great show. The only disappointment was that they didn't play "Doreen".
