I'm going to be moving to Houston next year and my dad had brought up the idea of getting a lifetime Louisiana hunting/fishing license. Does anyone know if it is voided when I move out of state?

As someone else stated, they are definitely valid even if you move out the state. I bought mine when I moved to Houston in '97...best investment. Another thing you can consider, if you don't plan to hunt/fish often in La. or price is too much, is the La. native license. But in my opinion, La. has one of the cheapest lifetime licenses around. I can't believe they haven't gone up in price since I bought mine 15 years ago.

Damn, I just realized I've been a way too long!

I bought mine when I was at LSU and then moved back to Waskom, TX for a couple years. This was when they first came out.

We were running dogs near Vivian, LA and had a caravan of trucks going down the road to our next spot. Of course I was the only one with Texas plates and we passed old Green Jeans on the road.

He makes a u-turn and pulls me over. There were 2 GJ in the truck. A young guy and an old guy. I handed the young guy my license and proceeds to tell me he's gonna have to write me a ticket.

So I explained to him what "lifetime" means. He says "I don't know about that, I'm goona have to ask my Sgt."

Needless to say, he walked back over, handed me my license back and told me to have a good day.

Yeah when I move back to Louisiana...I'll definitely be getting mine. I may have to move out of state again for work..but I want to be prepared.

Bought my son one when he was about 2 years old. This is the first year that he is required to cary a liscence. Well worth the investment in my opinion. One day he will reflect on it and appreciate it for sure!

if you were born in the state you can use your birth certificate to buy the license at a much reduced rate...I was buying 5 day out of state big game for like 30.00 when I would go hunt my uncles place back home.

Its called A native out of state license or something like that.
