Other than the loss, how was your experience?

How loud was the Swamp?

Where did you tailgate?

What bars/clubs/parties did you go to?

Where did you eat?

Go anywhere on campus?

How were Gator fans?

Gainesville Police?

Overall experience??

The Swamp's atmosphere was awesome. It solidified my belief that it is the second loudest stadium to Tiger Stadium in the SEC.

Tailgating sucked as usual there

Gator fans were fine to me. Ran into a couple a-holes but that happens everywhere. I've been to games at the swamp twice now and never really had a problem.

The jorts stereotypes are true. It was out of control on how many jorts I saw.

It was ok.

How loud was the Swamp?
I did not think it was loud at all. I went to the 2008 debacle and it was extremely loud then. Sat in the same location, so it couldnt be due to placement.

Where did you tailgate?
walked around, bar hopped

What bars/clubs/parties did you go to?
a bunch

Where did you eat?
Ale house, Dockside

Go anywhere on campus?
no

How were Gator fans?
Not bad at all. Had one run it with so old man with a perm after the game. Just walked away laughing

Gainesville Police?
had no run ins.

Overall experience??
rather weak. But ok. I had more fun visiting when there wasnt a game.

This my first SEC away game. Overall great experience. People could not have been nicer. No tailgating, just bar hopped along the street by the stadium. Went to Gator City, The Swamp and a few others. Ate shite around there (typical game day stuff).
The stadium was pretty cool, we were up at the top so we could tell it was loud, but didn't get the whole effect.
Police weren't a problem. Never had to deal with them.
Like I was telling a Gator fan, most people who have issues, bring it on themselves.

We will definitely return given the opportunity.

We had a great time. The Swamp is the loudest stadium I have ever been in and that includes Tiger Stadium. We watched games and hung out at Beef O Brady's before the game and went to the Dueling Piano Bar after the game. For the most part the Gator fans were great, we ran into a couple of drunk students after the piano bar closed that had a few words for us but nothing to bad. By far this was the best away game experience I have ever had and I have been to every SEC Venue.

Had a great time. Was hosted by gator fans. Tailgated at a house by the stadium, was real fun. Sat on 40 right behind LSU bench and was insanely loud.

A couple of shoulders from gator fans that I shook off. Overall great experience except for, well let's try to forget that....

ETA - a lot of fans boo'd our players when they got hurt. I thought it was pretty shitty. I can see how mob rule can take a life of its own without proper authority. I ignored it for my own good, but at one point I was fighting mad.

I posted this yesterday:

quote:

The fans really werent that bad either. I only got called a fig once. Was told "frick you" by what looked like a 13 year old girl. Walking to the game some frat star yelled "I wish I went to LSU so I'd have nothing to live for." Prophetic words in retrospect.

I didn't see many people doing the gator chomp thing to LSU fans. I really think that the Florida fans went into the game not really sure how they would do. They seemed kind of subdued. Then, when they won, they were really grateful.

Before the game, we parked in front of some women's center about a mile from the stadium. The guy running the place came up to me. He asked if I drove in from Louisiana. When I said yes, he shook my hand and said "Welcome to Gainesville." I thought that was pretty cool of him.

This was my first ever trip to Gainesville and I can honestly say I had a blast(besides the loss of course). I was a little worried bc everyone and their mother told to watch out bc their fans are the worst in the SEC. Besides a few corn dog and gator bait chants everyone was really friendly and even got a few hope yall enjoy Gainesville from some fans.

Stadium was extremely loud but I agree with a previous poster that I thought Auburn was a tad louder. Tailgated some near sorority row. Very good looking girls around there. I got to say though the stereotype about jorts and hair jelled guidos does hold true there.

We went to gator city and the swamp both were pretty cool bars and the food at gator city wasn't bad either. I had no problems with the police what so ever.

Overall, I loved Gainesville and would definitely consider going back. The Swamp is a great atmosphere, not louder than tiger stadium by any means, but a great place to watch college football. I don't know maybe we got lucky and missed the obnoxious fans.

I sat in the west stands with the old folks so it was fine.

Gainesville still sucks and it was really freaking hot.

Your fans should not boo an injured player. Classless.

A Katrina reference was said at our group as we walked by some fans before the game, so that was nice.

But all in all. the fans weren't too bad.

Had a blast. Great atmosphere in and out ofthe stadium. Was a little nervous about the fans, but i think the LSU fans giving out terrifying warnings are either terrible pussies or act like jackasses. The fans were all really nice (mostly interacted with older ones). At least 4 different fans told me how awesome their experiences in BR have been, and that they wantedto make sure I had a similar experience. Had amazing seats on the 30 yard line beh ind the UF bench and it was pretty loud in there. Went to The Swamp bar night before thegame. Lots of fine tail out and about. Tailgated at a house next to Emerson with a guy that is a lifetime member of the Alumni assoc. Good times. Will go back.

I've gone to a number of games at Auburn and at UF. I agree Auburn crowd is louder, no doubt. UF fans are more arrogant but that does not equate with louder.

I got two tickets from cops wearing gator pins. The tickets were for wreckless driving. One was given while I was in line at a Wendy's and the other when I was getting gas.

I was called every name in the book while tailgating. One guy came up to me and called me a f*ggot corndog. I told him it wasn't necessary and offered him a burger. He knocked it out of my hand and then punched my 10 year old daughter in the stomach before running off.

When we scored the first fg, I high fived my wife. The gators around me must not have liked that, so they through me down the stadium steps. I got up only to be tackled by a security guard. He tased me and hit me with I guess his club. I woke up in the hospital this morning. My daughter and wife each had a black eye and some bruises.

All in all, it was alright, but I have my doubts about returning. We'll see.

How loud was the Swamp?
Loudest outside of TS.

Where did you tailgate?

On SW15th by Norman Hall

What bars/clubs/parties did you go to?
None. We got in late, and left after the game.

Where did you eat?
Fast food in Lake City.

Go anywhere on campus?

How were Gator fans?
There were some nice fans, but most were pretty douchey. One threw an apple at us, and most were just plain rude. I'd say 30% were assholes, 20% were great, and 50% were neutral.

Gainesville Police?
Met an officer outside of gate 15, who was just awesome. Brought him some jambalaya. Guys in the stadium were dicks. "I'll kick your arse if you stand on the seat again...."

Overall experience??
B-

The tailgating scene was very subpar. The stadium was rocking. The fans were average.

swamp was loud and fun, fans were obnoxious but not too bad, tailgating was good at the LSU tailgates, didn't go anywhere (I'm in the band), I mostly ate fast food (Shrimp Shack in Mobile is legit), it was a fun trip. The game was exciting despite the loss, so I had fun.

It was decent overall. UF fans booing our injured players and calling Tiger Band figs when marching out of the stadium was all poor taste though.

ETA: Auburn was louder.

I went expecting the worst after listening to the comments on this board. Other than the loss, we had a good time. Unfortunately, my daughters first LSU game was a loss.

I thought the stadium would have been louder, I have been in louder venues. We just walked around campus for an hour or so before game time.

Worst verbal abuse we took was having corn dog yelled a couple of times before and after the game. During the game I had a Florida fan sitting on one side. We got along fine and talked football from before the game started until the end. We shook hands at the start of the game and at the end. The guy was pleasant to sit next to even though we were pulling for different teams.

I saw plenty of cops around the campus. I only saw one group of girls get hassled and they were UF girls.

Overall it was a good experience. Living in South Florida, I would go back as the drive is not that far.
