Hey,
I'm glad you're all sticking up for Russell after that balls-awesome 79 yard TD run out of the backfield. It's good to know there ARE RS supporters.

But where were you guys when the rant wanted to run him out of town for dropping one in the endzone?

*sigh*

In my limited time here as a poster, not a lurker, I have realized making a thread with any truth or sense is dumb. I agree though.

honestly, the last two games were such suckfests, that any glimmer of hope gets everyone excited...there haven't been a lot of plays like that is shep's career to cheer about...

I haven't changed my tune since he got here. Dude is the most misused talent I on the team.

Only 7 rushes last year.

Im glad i don't talk shite about our players, so when they do well i dont have to put my foot in my proverbial mouth.

I do agree...now, he is not a smash throught the line-type runner and goes down pretty easily....but if we can get exciting and meaningful production out of trindon holliday, we can damn sure find a way to shep some carries...

His "use" to me has most mirrored the career of Skyler Green. They both are great players in space that never mastered the WR position. Many were critical that Saban and staff never found enough for Green to do and Miles and staff never did much better. Both seem a bit of a waste but finding stuff to do for players that are "tweeners" is not always easy.

I thought the same as compared to Demps at Florida. Shep doesn't have Demp's speed but in space he's hard to catch. It's a shame he hasn't been used more at LSU.

Take a look at Sheps career stats and tell me where it "went wrong." It's pretty glaring.

I wish Russell Shepard could have went somewhere else because we misused him so badly.

That's ridiculous. Even if you think he has been misused, why the frick would you want him playing for someone else.

I have always said my issue was using him as a receiver. I don't mind him getting a jet sweep or coming out of the backfield. I have also said it is Les Miles fault, because he is SOOOOO predictable when he is going to Shep. Also, he loves to use Shep 2 plays in a row. It is telegraphed when he is getting the football. Anytime he does jet sweep motion or is in the backfield, want to guess who is getting the ball 99% of the time?

Because we pretty much screwed him over. That's why. I'm glad he's here I've been his big supporter on this board

That awesome run where he ran into Mett before taking the handoff.
