I do munch on these quite a bit. Some of my other favorites are red beans, chili, spaghetti, baked sweet potatoes, black eyed peas and rice, etc.
I was really wanting to know if anyone had a good recipe to make that is cheap?

doesn't get any cheaper or better tasting than red beans and rice w/ some smoked sausage.

Soba Noodles
LINK
You can find them at an Asian grocery
But I linked it just to illustrate how cheap they are. You can get 8 packs of 3 for 18 dollars
That's less than a dollar a meal

Also cheap: Bananas
Not really a meal but they're good for snacks
And if they look like they're about to go bad, just wrap them up in cling wrap and put in the freezer and save for smoothies
I've come to the conclusion that you can never really have too many bananas around especially if you're on a budget

This is pretty close to the recipe I use. I cook it fairly often and eat on it for days. Really cheap too. Tastes awesome, I sub meat for turkey and I believe I cook mine for an hour.

2 alarm chili mix. I made it today, spent about 10 dollars and have 4 or 5 meals from it.

If you happen to have a crockpot or can borrow from your parents, a roast overnight is awesome. You can get a couple lbs for about 10-15$ and the rest of whatever you want to put in for less than 5. Let it cook overnight and leave it in the crockpot on warm and eat on it for a few days. Stretches the 20 or so across at least 3 days. After a day or so it starts to break down and is awesome for some quick tacos or even by itself. I do this at lest least every month and a half or so.

Look up pasta primevera(chicken or cheap pork can be added), beef stroganoff(buy a roast in the cheap seats section and cut it into appropriately sized pieces)over egg noodles, a store bought roasted chicken is dirt cheap with veggies and a starch should come to about 11-12. Learn to shop at Southside and the farmers market as much as possible for staple foods as the price variation on goods bought from those places versus a store are extreme to say the least. Soups are a cheap meals when prepared right, and are damned nutritious to boot. A beef based veggie soup will feed and are heart soothers and anti-freeze in the winter, chilled soups work well in summer to cool off the days heat. The soup with corn bread is cheap date food.
ETA corn bread should not be made from the cheap assed single packages of crap at the store, get real corn meal and follow the directions for the "dough", put your cast iron skillet in the oven at 425 and heat up a bit of cooking oil, when the temp is reached pour the batter into it and bake for twenty five minutes. Another thing, NO SUGAR!!!!

I love spaghetti sandwiches

crockpot
This is my suggestion. Get a crockpot and a good bit of tupperware. Make a huge meal for $10 and then freeze servings. My girlfriend and I can get three meals out of a crockpot recipe, sometimes more, so 6 servings.
