Going down there in mid Oct, was thinking about bringing boat and sneaking in some fishing. Anyone fish the area, do any good?

I went to Stanislaus. We fished off the dock a good bit. I caught alot of flounder there.
But if you are in the Bay, you should shoot over to the Jordan River from there. There are some places you can get into reds and a spec here and there.

Yeah we gonna run over to the Jordan River, talked to some friends and that's what they recommended! Gonna give it a run Friday Morning...
Any public launches in the area? Good Marina's?

I haven't actually seen it since the storm, but the one behind the casino would probably be best (public launch) for the Jourdan. It's at a fricked up angle too, you'll see.
I wouldn't use Washington St, it got it's arse kicked by Isaac.

You can launch at Bay Marina for $5, go to their website for directions based on where you are coming from, it's an easy launch and a 10 minute idle ride to the Jourdan.
As for the fishing, I haven't fished there in 2 weeks but the specs hadn't made their way into the river yet. Limits of redfish are being caught everywhere though just don't go to far up river, I wouldn't go past I10. Make sure you have fishing licenses and all legal items on board. Marine patrol won't give you a hard time but they will check to make sure everyone has life jackets, throwable, etc
I'll be there this weekend, probably going to run to the Biloxi Marsh

remember if you fish north of I-10 you'll need a freshwater license.

Thought about doing that Saturday or Sunday. Bought a 'new to me' bay boat a couple weeks ago and we wanna run it. 2009 Nautic Star 1910, 115 Yamaha 4stroke on it.

I made my first trip to the biloxi marsh a few weeks ago and caught one damn trout. It was near the top where it starts and opens up. It didn't make any sense, this place looked like trout heaven.

Went last week out of the bay. Picked up dead shrimp and headed to the taylor reef - about 2 miles due south of the bridges, caught as many puppy drum as we could handle, a handful of trout, and 7 reds. They are also producing the same around the bridges from what I hear. Good luck

Yes, Louisiana residents required to buy Freshwater and Saltwater to fish Saltwater in MS, I bought both today.

You have the reef coordinates on you by any chance of the ones in the area? I had them saved in the GPS I downloaded on my phone and accidentally fricking reset my phone instead of updated it. I lost all contacts, pics, aps, everything

Also, if you fish the Biloxi marsh you are technically fishing LA waters and can keep your LA limit IF you don't wet a line in MS waters. I've never been stopped after doing it so not sure how it would go down but my research says LA limit if no fishing MS water so take it fwiw

The first and last time I went to Biloxi Marsh to fish was a horrible experience. The horseflies were like a plague no joke. We were out there all day and caught maybe 3 fish and I had at least 20 bites on my feet and legs. Pains me to even think about it.

Everyone around the camp does this. It's legal. I keep a path marked on my gps in order to show where I fished in case I am questioned
