I saw a thread on this a few weeks ago........I stopped there today for lunch. It's nothing spectacular but not bad. I had the beef bowl which had beef, steamed rice and veggies w/ a drink for $8. The portion was a little small....wish I would have went with the beef platter for a buck more.
You can pretty much get beef, short ribs, chicken, spicy chicken or shrimp with rice and veggies or macaroni salad. They also have wraps with said meats.
Anyone else been there?

I didn't know it had opened, I wish I would have known that earlier today.

I think it just opened this week......Wednesday I think. I'm in that area a lot and that's the first day I noticed the "open" sign.

It's at Jefferson/bluebonnet.......in that little shopping center behind Izzos, next to the daiquiri place.

Ate lunch in their today. Headed to Izzos with some coworkers and saw it was opened. I ordered the spicy pork bowl but they gave me chicken. Not a big deal, I was on the fence when ordering.
Not spectacular, but it was a good light-ish lunch. As OP said, steamed rice, steamed veggies, grilled chicken on top. I had water and was out for ~$7. I'm usually just thrilled that any lunch place has steamed vegetables as an option. Here it is one of the few options. Take-out menu sitting on my kitchen island at the moment.
FWIW, I was eating with someone who grew up in Hawaii. She vouched for it's authenticity, and said it reminded her of the many plate lunch places she used to get food from.

It is not hawaiian unless they serve the gut rocket known as the "loco moco"... fried eggs on top of hamburger patties, on top of sticky rice, and swamped with brown gravy. Served with a side of macaroni salad.
Lived in Hawaii for 3 years, and this (from L&L Drive-inn) is one of the many things I miss immensely. One of my favorite rare treats while I lived there.

Was in Hawaii for two weeks for my honeymoon and had a loco moco every morning. There is an L&L not to far from me in New York, I have to get there for a fix

Hoboken is a cool city. I spent many a nights in Washington township just up the road.

No, it's a pretty basic menu. 6 or 7 meat options, steamed rice, steamed veg, macaroni salad. Get that in a plate, a bowl, a wrap...etc. It feels like they are trying to get some basic stuff rolling and could possibly expand the menu as they go. Can't blame them for that. (that's how I'd do it at least)

We should grab a bite at the Cove then grab a drink at the other Cove...

I was skeptical at first myself, but trust me when I say that it is amazing. If I went back to Hawaii today, it would be the third thing I'd go eat after getting a "Teddy's bigger burger", and poke rolls and opa from Duke's.
