Finally a journalist with some logic. It was ONE game guys.

quote:

Just how hard is it to win on the road in the SEC? Last weekend, LSU was the only team that was able to do it. A very good Vanderbilt team was soundly defeated at Georgia and a traditionally strong Missouri team lost by 21 points at South Carolina. In fact, the Tigers are one of only five SEC teams this season to win a conference contest on the road, joining Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Four of those five squads are ranked among the nation’s top-six teams.

Entering the game on Saturday, perhaps LSU was favored to win against Auburn, considering the squad’s records, statistics and personnel. When you consider that victory on Saturday was just LSU’s second in Auburn since 2000, it becomes that much more impressive. It was just the fourth home loss in the Gene Chizik era.

Additionally, it marked just the second time in the last 14 meetings between the two schools that the visiting team has escaped with a win. In the most recent national championship seasons of the two schools, those games in the series were decided by fewer than 10 points.

Unfortunately, you are right. Anyone who applies logic is labeled a "sunshine pumper."

yeah, idiots tend to miss the fact that the line between a blowout and a very close game can be razor thin. Had JD not been injured and had been in for that snap (not that it was a terrible snap, but each C is different), this game would not have been close.

Jordan Hare sat night was louder than Bryant Denny was at last years Game of the Century. It was a buzzsaw we walked into and glad for the W.

Good read; thanks for posting.

While I don't think we are the best of all time or unbeatable this year, Alabama's statement wins over Arkansas and Michigan are looking more and more less impressive with each passing week. I'm glad Alabama is getting all the press and being annointed the greatest, blah, blah. It will make their fall in Tiger Stadium that much sweeter. Alabama is definitely good but they really haven't beaten anyone yet either.

Ths sky is not falling and I believe we can go undefeated this year. We have character and this win at Auburn showed that from LSU. Lots more games to play and I can't wait to see them all.

Geaux Tigers!

The stats for the game were overwhelmingly in lsu's favor. The score didn't reflect what the stats show but look at them closely. The defense played a good game and without the red zone fumble lsu would have won with a comfortable lead.

I realize we are talking semantics and, the atmosphere at JH was electric, but BDS was as loud as the Superdome was when the Saints beat the Falcons (Gleason blocked punt for a TD)after Katrina.

I love to hear the nuts and bolts ,as to say,of football. I know there are former players and coaches that opine on this board and I very much respect their opinion. With that being said, lsu ran for 186 yards Saturday. That's less than what we have been averaging.

Was our reduction in yardage gained in the running game due to us passing more?
Was it due to losing Blue? Hillard seemed to be getting less yardage than normal also so its hard to say it was just because Blue was out.
Did the injuries on the o_line result in the decline in total yards or was it simply the level of competition was much better this game?
Auburn had been struggling against the run. Did they simply step up their game or did they do something strategically that other teams can capitalize on that we need to correct in the future. Thanks in advanced.

Excellent analysis. He made me see things I was not even taking into consideration and summed it up concisely. It definitely gives me a little more confidence heading down the stretch but I am one of those old fans who will always suffer from PTSD and Catastrophe Syndrome when it comes to LSU football.

People also don't give enough credence to the circumstances surrounding the death of a staff member, and the huge roll momentum and crowd energy play in a college football game. The atmosphere was electric to the finish. Tough environment to play in, especially to win.

One other first that night:

1st time in over 100 years of Auburn football that they lost 3 games before 1 October. You can bet your arse that Auburn was playing for more than a win that night but failure was eminent.

Nice Link!!!

Nobody is really talking about how well our defense is playing right now. This is why I still think we are UNDER RATED! Everyone is wetting their pants at the thought of playing Florida at the Swamp. I can't wait, we will expose their weak arse QB and sail on back to BR with a win.

DEFENSE WINS!!!!!
Book It!

You don't just waltz into a hostile environment against a rival like that and blow them out. History has shown us that.

It is obvious that Sean Cartell has no clue. All day I have been listening to the football experts in the plant break room telling me that the season was over and that LSU might, just might win one other game. Hell even the guy that drives the tamale truck told me that.
