Went to Parrain's in Baton Rouge last week and they were incredibly delicious. Any other spots in LA to consider? Hard to imagine better than what we had.....

They were the originators I believe. There is one downtown too, but I've never been to that one. I always go to the one in Metarie.

If in Baton Rouge, try the ones at Mansur's. They're excellent.

In BR, city cafe, especially when Alex cooks them. Mansur's is good as well.

You haven't lived until you have had them from Drago's. Seriously.

My personal favorite is Drago's, but parking is difficult.
Acme is very good also. They do a nice job at the Perkin's location.

Not sure if still on the menu but Stroubes doesn an interesting take on them. They put a dab of BBQ pork on top of the chargrilled oyster

Cochon has a wood roasted oyster appetizer that is pretty damn good. (This is not my own pic.)
Wood roasted, fire grilled ... big difference? I don't know.

Can't imagine it gets much better than Drago's. But, I have heard that Mansur's is every bit as good.

I noticed a couple of "Drago's" char grilled oyster recipes on the net. Anyone tried any of them? Seems simple enough.

Phares' in Lafayette has some of the best I have ever had.
Yes, I have had Drago's.

Mansur's was out the other day. The substitute was scallops done the same way. Better than the oysters imo. Excellent

That's interesting. I'd have never thought to do scallops that way. Were they sea or bay?

I've been to the Acme on Perkin's and on Veteran's several times within the last few months and the Chargilled oysters were excellent.
Of course, I think any chargrilled oyster is excellent as long as it's not overcooked.
But Drago's sets the standard here.

Yeah. That's pretty much all there is to say in this thread.
