Dang right
I don't know. I guess if the inevitable move is to join the ACC, I say just do it now.
I am, however, always impressed at their schedule. They really put themselves through it.

@Rosenberg_Mike:
Notre Dame will compete in the ACC in all sports except football and hockey. Just like Duke.

ND recruiting ranking at Rivals.com for the past 5 years:
2008: 2
2009: 21
2010: 14
2011: 10
2012: 20
Average: 13.4
Come on now, it's time to put up or shut up. They should finish in the top 15 this year, right?

And like I said, now that we have a different postseason format coming up, it won't be that big of an issue. But I know that hurt their recruiting over the years. Kids knowing that ND didn't have the automatic conference tie in. And with a lot of the mystique of the school fading over time, playing for the Irish just wasn't that big of an appeal for all of the top recruits. Joining the Big 10 would have made more sense, but I feel joining a conference is only going to help them.
The lack of a fb conference didn't hurt ND's recruiting they had their tie-ins and had BCS criteria afforded to them. ND's problem is the coaching turn style, lack of top 10 seasons and the expanison of college fb on tv. ND could always point to their media coverage in gaining recruits from across the country but with games on from Thur-Sat night across the cable/dish networks they lost an edge.

When was the last time ND factored in to the college football landscape?
05-06 that's beside the point. if ND was so irrelevant like many of you say why does their AD get to sit with "conference commissioners" and make decisions on the sport? why do they have their own tv contract and why would any conference bend over to take them in?

I guess the year they played in the Sugar Bowl against LSU? I think they'll make a top 10 push this year though.

They're about to lose 5 of their next 6 games.

@ Michigan State
Michigan
Miami
Stanford
BYU
@ OU
You really see 5 losses here? I see some great games that Notre Dame is completely capable of winning.

ehhh,.... i don't know why this is even big news.
who cares? Notre Dame's football program is slightly better than garbage. Their schedule is probably even easier now honestly. Yay. Duke, Maryland, Boston College, Virginia yearly.
It won't matter tho, the big boys will continue playing in big games in early January while Notre Dame sits at home and jacks off to their legacy 20+ years ago remaining a joke to the rest of the country.
they got a last second win over Purdue last weekend....you can't be serious.

As someone who played football at VT and love the Hokies...I am done with the ACC....
Either you are a full member or none at all...
We are the Big East now
So, time to go for my second team...Geaux Tigers

Then why not join, you pretentious d-bags????
Why join when they aren't being forced to? This way, they don't have to split anything with any other teams, so when they get to BCS bowls (every 4-5 years) that millions that they get to keep. They are making the conferences play their game, instead of the other way around. It's pretty F'd up, but they win every time.

True. Adding the ACC to ND's schedule is actually a step down

because their struggles at home against lowly Purdue make you so confident in their abilities?

i dont think there are 5 losses there but there defintely are several. notre dame has 4 losses at best written all over them. teams with 4 losses dont sniff the top 10.

Love the attempt at deflecting the situation here, but this is not about Ws and Ls.
This is about money and now the ACC has tremendous leverage in renegotiating their TV contracts.

they decided this year's schedule was too tough, so they decided to jump to the ACC.
Look at FSU. Haven't been relevant in 15 years, but they got a ACC schedule, so there's always a chance.
