Anyone know why we scheduled Div II Towson Tigers?

All I found was this article in the Baltimore newspaper. I thought that scheduling a div II school could hurt us just as it did Auburn in 2004.

Didn't hurt Bama last year, why would it hurt LSU

Running the minefield we did last year will keep any rumblings of a weak OOC schedule pretty quiet.

Adding A&M screwed up our schedule, we had to pick up whomever was available on short notice.

Towson needs new books for their library.

The # of SEC games played is still 8.

TCU maybe have had to back out, LSU didn't add A&M, the # of SEC games is the same as it has been since 1992, so how would that f'up LSU's schedule? The SEC schedule is made by the SEC.

Ah- I had forgotten about TCU. I do agree that it probably won't matter. In fact, other top teams may have div II teams on their schedules ( FSU).

Auburn was hurt in 2004 because they started out the year ranked behind UT and USCw and could not overtake them because they were also undefeated at the end of the year. If LSU goes undefeated (meaning we beat Bama who is ahead of the team in the polls) nobody will pass them up to leave the tigers out of the championship game.

Every SEC team this year has a game against an FCS school.

i thought they moved it back to those years but could very well be wrong

Towson is Division I-FCS. They were added to the schedule before the 2012 conference schedule was released. I just figured they scheduled an extreme cupcake in case October was an unexpected gauntlet.

Amazes me to this day how people still call Division I-AA/FCS "Division II".
Division I-A/FBS teams are not allowed to play Division II teams. Towson is Division I-AA/FCS. Division II is a lower division than Division I-AA. Division I-A allows 85 scholarship players, Division I-AA allows 63, Division II allows just 36. Division III allows 0.
