LSU vs. Tenn 2000

The LSU fans rushed the feild after an OT win 38-31...after losing to UAB the week before...LSU was 2-2 and unranked.

I think that must of been when Nick said on that Monday's Presser: "We don't rush the feild when we haven't done anything but win one game".

Expectations changed from then on..

The other cool memory is Rohan Davey to Josh Reed...Wow, that was awesome!

We needed that win badly. Morale was at an all time low after the UAB loss.

truth....kinda' liked the 'chest' exhibited by Toefield. great combinatition of strength, balance and speed on that run and I am looking forward to seeing Alfred Blue do much the same this year.

bust hump...bust heads...burst bamas bubble.

In 2000 it never occurred to me that LSU would be in a position to overtake UGA and UT in conference championships in my lifetime...yet here we are.

Memories. I lost my shoe while climbing the goal post and riding it down. It was funny how my mom picked me out on the clip shown from the news. Everyone took patches of the turf home with them from the middle of the field.

I turned down an all expenses paid trip to Peru because I had tix to that game. Don't regret it to this day. I remember losing to UAB and asking "why in the hell did we hire a guy that got his arse kicked by the lame duck we just fired?". Davey is my 2nd fav QB behind Hodson.

Still pisses me off that in 2001 I never got to tear down the field goals

After we lost to UAB I thought, OK, Saban's obviously not the guy to turn us around. Then we go and beat UT and I did a full reversal in thinking about him.

I also seem to remember someone published a story before the game from a Tenn newspaper that talked about how Death Valley wasn't so intimidating anymore, and "may it rest in peace." I hope that author enjoyed the bowl of dicks he ate the night of the game.

That was the beginning of the demise of tenns fabled football program.

I guess they didn't get the memo. They went down a few weeks later after beating Bama. I was at both games. That was a fun year.

That was a great game.
I remember my parents were out of town, so of course that meant party to my brother, so I came over to make sure the house didn't burn down. I'm in the kitchen alone watching the game. When we won I screamed so loud, people on the back porch outside the basement, asked what was that. All my brother said was, "LSU won".
It is amazing where we have come in 12 years.
I'm young so I don't remember the dark ages, but I remember being thrilled and thought we had made big time when we made the Independence Bowl after the 95 season.
Now imagine how upset some of us will be if we end up in the Sugar Bowl this year.

Great game. Only time I recall rushing the field in all the LSU games I've been to.

Hasn't been mentioned that Steve Van Buren, Y. A. Tittle and Jim Taylor were at that game. They were announced and on the field at half time.
