Why does Walmart sell these? Why does anyone sell these?

I ran into the Neighborhood Market the other day to pick up a few things and saw the black-packaged choice steaks. I've had good experiences with them since they came out. I have a vacuum sealer I just bought so I was looking to get some steaks in bulk to freeze.

All they had were ribeyes and strip, thin cut. All their other steaks: filets, tbones, ribeyes, and strip - normal cut, were out. I picked up two packages of the strips and ate some with eggs for breakfast. They are so thin that they overcook in seconds.

But the point is, who the hell desires a thin cut steak? Steaks are supposed to be thick and juicy if they are the main dish. And I would think a choice grade steak would be the the "star" of the plate.

Stop thin cutting the steaks!

Get a French loaf, some peppers and onions, and make one hell of a sandwich. That's what I would do.

They takes a thick ribeye and shave it thin. These are thin cut steaks, so imagine a thick steak like you would normally eat and then slicing it in half so you now have two thin steaks.

Here's what kills me, and both Albertson's and Winn-Dixie are guilty of this. They'll have a "buy one get one free" sale, and have only one package of thick steaks or chops, while the rest are thin. What's even worse is when they have this sort of sale and only have one of the item on the shelves.

Thank you captain obvious. I work various shifts. No matter how often you press the help bell at the butchers counter around 10:45pm, there's no chance in hell of anyone emerging from the back to help. I suppose I could ask the self checkout attendant to grab an apron and cut me a side of beef.

I wonder if you got the butcher and told him to get you a whole ribeye and cut it right in the middle and wrap it up if they'd honor the buy one get one free deal.

They've got to have a limit on how much you can buy, right? Otherwise, I think I just figured out how to get ribeyes on the relative cheap.

If you want to pay steak price for an untrimmed rib rack I'm sure they would do it

I don't want to pay steak prices. I want to pay half steak prices for the primal. The idea was to get the buy one get one free deal but have the primal I can then cut and trim to my liking and prevent the thin cut steak phenomenon the OP was talking about.
