I feel like i should be pissed if the show gets ahead of the books especially if its only in certain story lines.

I think it's going to be the controversial chapter that has been discussed. Probably Sweetrobin kicking the bucket or LF raping Sansa.

Is it me or does it seem like Sansa wouldn't put herself in a situation to get raped? She seems more cunning and on his level. Well no one is on his level but you know.

Has anyone given any thought to what we're going to do when the show passes the books? Right now we have:
-Maesters
-Crackpot
-Hodors
-Middle Ground

Easy enough, but now it's going to be a clusterfrick:
-Maesters (who refuse to watch the shows until the books are complete)
-Maesters who have read the books, but continue to watch the show.
-Will the Hodors become the new Maesters?
-Middle Ground- what will that even mean anymore?
-Will the Crackpot thread will have to split off

That fat frick better publish a book already!

What's everyone's take on GRRM releasing these 12 days of Christmas memes on twitter? A lot of people are thinking it's a countdown to a release date for tWoW. The theory is he started these on December 10th which would make them end on December 21st, the first day of winter. And the memes seem to be professionally done so that adds to the speculation.

He was asked about it on his blog and he basically shrugged it off saying where do people come up with this stuff and to not read into it.

However Eliot who runs Westeros.org and a couple of GRRMs publishers have made some interesting tweets/comments as well.

Does it ever occur to you that we the fans have screwed up? We and the tV series have built up this thing so high in the zeitgeist, it is no wonder the poor bastard is too scared to write/finish. There is no way anything he puts out could possibly live up to expectations. Honestly, I think the only way out for him is to go into total seclusion, read the books from start to finish, and write out the story in entirety without any thought of editing as he goes. Once completely finished, then he can edit them in order, publishing them one each year or so.

Nah. He's not the first writer to have his series get big in the midst of writing it. As big as Game of Thrones is, Harry Potter was probably bigger for example. There were people who weren't happy with how it finished or how the last two movies portrayed the last two books, but that hardly knocked the shine off the series. Now if he starts writing just to out smart the fans who have guessed things and stuff like that then he'll get himself in some trouble IMO.

You could say that for almost every sequel made, every book series written that had a mass of fans, etc. Is it possible he's essentially written himself into a corner? Sure. I wouldn't ever blame that on the fans though.

I'd think so too.

I think he's going to release the Sansa chapter before S5 behind though (similar to how he released the Arya chapter last year before S4).
