I could also see it ending with the Iron Throne completely losing its power and Westeros reverting back to the days of the andals and the first men. I could see the seven kingdoms truly becoming seven different kingdoms at the end.
Nailed it, Cotton. That was the other part of the Haranhal theory - it, like Westeros, is just too big to be under the control of one person (or House). Black Harran's "Folly" has a lesson for all thirsting to hold The Red Keep.
I think The Seven Kingdoms will return in full power, and Dany will dispose of the Iron Throne with the same force behind it's creation. A separate, but peaceful Westeros will result.

Two theories which I feel really strongly about after reading ADWD and AFFC again
1. Loras Tyrell is not hurt. Never went to Dragonstone. When the septas are preparing Cersei for her walk, Cersei asks about Margaery and her trial and one of them says-"her brother" before quickly being hushed.
2. The Hound is alive and is the gravedigger. When the elder brother is telling Brienne about the Hound he tells her the Hound dies. Then on the next page he tells Brienne on the next page that he himself died at the Trident. This makes it obvious that he is referring more spiritually than physically.

I think this is how the Starks will ultimately end up on top. They have been through so much in the readers eyes that they HAVE to end up in a good spot, right?
You know the first working title of the "last" book in the series was "A Time for Wolves", but HE changed it...I hope your thoughts are still the case..."Spring" fits much better, I admit, but...we are talking about Mass Murdering Martin here.

I think at the very least he's not nearly as bad off as some have said. I think he probably went to Dragonstone but is still alive and kicking for sure. And up to something.

I think most here is all in on that theory.

I know this guy is and I think the hound will be the Valonquar that cersei is so afraid of.

Yep. I hope him killing Robert Strong will result in Cersei's death

Fap worthy. I wish Arya could be trained to become a true warg. A Facless Man/Warg combo would be so badass.

my god i know. Imagine. She'd be the greatest faceless man ever. she could make everything just look like animal accidents. Make a horse buck the target off a bridge or walk off a cliff. have a bear maul someone.

I thought about that possibility last night while watching the last few episodes of Season 1. Her being trained by Sylvio a Braavosi and then correlating that with her dreams of her pack and then being in Braavos training as a Faceless man gave me chills. In a good way.
ETA: If Arya is ever reunited with Nymeria it would be so fricking awesome. We know Nymeria is alive. It will happen IMO.

Was just reading the 2nd D&E novella and ran across this line:
And I know it's nothing we don't already know but he seems o drive this home a lot. Just makes me think of Darkstar and his purple eyes.

That would lend credence to Doran and his claim that Darkstar was the most dangerous man in Dorne.

I have no doubt that Nymeria and Arya will reunite. The most deadly direwolf and Stark were always destined to frick shite up together.

I think at some point most all of the Starks who are still alive will unite. Martin's bit about the pack together survives was no coincidence IMO. Just not sure how it goes down.

I think Tommen is actually the valonqar. I'm kind of hoping its a wighted Tommen that literally strangles that bitch, but I can also see him being manipulated into giving her something like a poison.
quote:
"Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds," she said. "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."
Maggy is talking about the three children and then goes into directly about the valonqar, so I feel like this is odd for her to break off and refer to any "little brother" when she was just talking about the kids...really though anythings possible

The only Stark I have a hard time seeing reunited is Bran.
Posted on 12/12/12 at 1:28 am to NIH
So these meet back up
Rickon Stark, Osha, Davos, and Shaggydog with an army from Skagos
Jon Stark and Ghost with the Night's Watch (numbers inflated by wildling influx) and the Northmen loyal to Winterfell
Arya Stark and Nymeria, her with the faceless man training together with Nymeria's massive wolfpack
Bran Stark, with Jojen, Meera, Summer and the children of the forest
And If Bran doesn't warg into a dragon somehow, I'll be surprised.

Sansa with Harry the Heir and the Knights of the Vale

I haven't read the books. I just wanted to pop in and say that this is the most unlikely subject for a marathon thread that I've ever seen.

The problem with that is the Valonqar prophesy directly mentions Tommen in it dying, so I don't think he's the Valonqar.
