the third queen is the red lady. She controls Stannis' whole operation.
I generally get more reading done on breaks so I was cool with the first schedule.
I dont know who commanded Dayne to be at the Tower of Joy. Rhaegar was long dead. Aerys and company were freshly dead.

The events at the Tower of Joy are critical and no where close to being understood yet. I think a big surprise awaits there when Bran taps into it. The issue will then become how would Bran get anyone to believe JS =RT + LS. Pieces of paper generally do not convince anyone. I doubt Greenseeing would either.

The throne will be won with Fire and Blood not lineage anyway.

Martin has made a couple of cryptic comments along this line. That we all think we've figured it out but there's more going on there than we've seen.

Alright, new topic (although, most likely discussed in mass of pages preceding this one).
What is Alleras's (Sarella's) "game" in Old Town? Have we gotten any hints as to what Doran wants her to accomplish in the Citadel?

Crackpot: Doran sent her there for dragon eggs to entice Dany as an ally.
Posted on 9/14/12 at 2:53 pm to DestrehanTiger
I don't think Doran even knows shes there. The sand snakes aren't very friendly with him.
Oberyn spent some time at the citadel as well I think she's just following his footsteps

Doran knows she isn't in Dorne and tells Areo Hotah to "leave her to her game". He's also Doran Martell, he knows everything that happens in Dorne or with Dornish people. I think he knows.

And this is why this thread is awesome. I never even picked up on this.

I hate to interrupt my own topic, but I just thought of another one. Afte rereading the last Jon Connington chapter, something struck me as odd. The Halfmaester explains that someone has left a ton of letters and such with details of the recent evens happening in the Seven Kingdom's. A lot of it is borderline gossip, i.e. Cersei and Marg bickering in KL. My question is, who was sending these documents. I have 3 theories.
1. Red Ronnet and Tarly are planning something and keeping Griffin's Roost up to speed.
2. The Maesters are up to something devious (like most expect). This is just communication going around to all the grey mice in the kingdom.
3. It was just a literary device by GRRM to show how Connington gets caught up on what is going on in the Seven Kingdoms.

I am of the opinion that the Citadel is about to enter into the Game. There is too many strange happenings and a split among Maester's there. I am really not sure why Sarella Sand is there, but I would guess to investigate.

This. I think they have dragon eggs and possibly a way to "use" them. Whether by hatching them or trading them, the Maester's are about to join in the fun.
My crackpot theory... they will be joining on the side of the Other's. I can't explain it, I just have a feeling.

Maester Aemon, "Sphinx is the riddle, not the riddler."
Let's break it down. What do we know:
1. She is Oldtown working on her measters (sic)
2. Jaqen has the key to the Citadel
3. Samwell's POV will provide the reveal
4. Doran says, "Leave her to her ... game.
And most importantly: they are now all linked to Archmaester Marwyn.
Then we have this telling exchange:
quote:
"The dragon has three heads," he (Sphinx) announced in his soft Dornish drawl.
Everything spoken between these characters, Sphinx included, has to do with Dany and her dragons. It's too late in the game for this to be about dragon eggs.
I think Sarella's game is knowledge. And that has to do with taming dragons, which is the most important next step for Dany.

I like number one, I think Tarly sides with Aegon.

saddest moments in ASOIAF?
my top few:
-Ned's death
-Catelyn watching Robb die
-Theon looking back and wishing he had died at Robb's side at the Red Wedding
-Bran seeing Ned pray in the Godswood for presumably Robb and Jon to grow up together
-Ned's Tower of Joy dream
