Re: Littlefinger
You also have to think about the current state of Westeros. It's no longer united under one throne, instead you have (or had I should say) multiple people with multiple claims.
Being the defacto guy over the Vale AND the North makes you just as much a factor as anyone sitting the Iron Throne right now. Doesn't he still technically have Harrenhal as well?

Good point about there not being much resistance for a completely rested and well fed army from the Vale. But if Aegon does convince Dorne to join him and the Golden Company, that army should be able to demolish all that stand in their way in Westeros. Dany is the only leader that could gather a force large enough to defeat Aegon. For this reason, that it would be too easy, I am not expecting Arianne Matel to consent to an alliance.
Yes but other than it being a giant fortress, it doesn't come with much.

He's also Lord Paramount of the Trident. At least in name.

That's the important part. No one is going to give a shite when Littlefinger claims to have authority over them. Unless he pays them a shite load of gold, which he very well may be planning on doing, they will never fight for him in battle.

Completely off topic, but did anyone watch Suits last night?
They had a nice ASOIAF reference, "I always pay my debts...I'm a Lannister."

Also, being on the throne is way to visible for Littlefinger, he wants to rule from the shadows not from the front.
This. He doesn't want to be king he just wants to own the man who is king

Who do you think he is going to cast his lot in? Or do you think he will stick with the strategy of sitting the war out to see who is victorious? Personally, I think Aegon would be the most vulnerable. After Jon Connington dies, greyscale, he would be extremely easy for Littlefinger to manipulate. Though Varys would likely be right there to thwart his plans.

He's definitely holding out to see who wins. I'd expect nothing less from Littlefinger. He's going to eat up as much land as he can and use that as his bargaining chip for a place on the Council.

Has anyone done a ranking to who is most likely, at this point, to hold the throne at the end of the Song? I've got:
1. Aegon
2. Dany
3. Euron
4. Stannis
5. Everyone else including Lannisters
Now of course this all changes should a certain Prince that was Promised be awoken. I am mainly looking for everyone's thoughts on where the balance of power lies at the moment.

Good point. Did Roose allow this letter to go out? Does Roose know?

This isn't necessarily true. I'll post a spoiler warning if anyone doesn't want to know about chapters from TWOW that have already been read.
SPOILER
In the Theon chapter. It looks like Theon is likely about to be executed. Asha makes a request that it be done in front of a heart tree. I don't know how, but it's possible he escapes with the help of Bran. I hope Stannis isn't dead, but it's possible that Theon wasn't there if/when Ramsey and Co. conquered Stannis.

I wish Littlefinger would set someone up, and use them as a puppet to rule the kingdoms.

I've also been thinking (and I know it's a longshot), what if Ghost is Jon's Nissa Nissa. He loves Ghost to death, and they are really two extremely intertwined entities, so what if Ghost is the one he has to sacrifice? I would
Or, what if Jon refuses to believe in Azor Ahai due to his belief in the Old Gods, and doesn't sacrifice anyone/anything at all? That would also be spice things up; it would be much harder to defeat the Others and would add to the drama.

This seems to pre-date ADWD but I just stumbled across it. Good read.
