Sorry if Germans, but where do you see Batman rank with other great trilogies?
This is in no particular order:
LOTR
Matrix Trilogy
The original Star Wars Trilogy Episodes 4-6
Back to the Future
Indiana Jones (not including the last one
)
Ocean's 11-13
The Godfather
Spiderman Trilogy
X-men Trilogy
Toy Story
The Mighty Ducks
I'd say that is ranks pretty high up there. Definitely the greatest superhero trilogy of all time for sure.

2nd behind the 3 Ninjas Trilogy
Posted on 7/25/12 at 2:12 pm to Make It Rayne
1. LoTR
2. Batman
3. Star Wars - third movie knocks it down, while the first two are better than almost any movie ever made.
4. Godfather - see above
5. Dollars - cheesy spaghetti westerns are just fun movies but after this I can't really think of a solid trilogy 1-3
Gross
And no matter how much we all hate kingdom of the crystal skull, Indiana jones is not a trilogy
ETE: also Lucas' constant tampering with episodes 4-6, and shitty prequels, has impacted the greatness of the original trilogy. I just can't look at them the same way.

Aside from the original SW trilogy, I can't think of another trilogy that was as consistently terrific as Batman.
*I have not seen the LOTR trilogy

I know some of you aren't big foreign film fans but...The Three Colors is great.

Matrix Trilogy

The thing about most of the trilogies you listed is how uneven a lot of them were.
I would put the Dark Knight trilogy in the discussion with LOTR, Star Wars, Back to the Future, Toy Story trilogies
The Godfather I refuse to acknowledge as a trilogy - though I do think the first one is a defensible pick as the best movie ever made. The Matrix was great for how novel it was when it first came out but the two following movies (and a gazillion imitations) greatly detracted from the impact of that creative inspiration
I really liked Spiderman 1 & 2 FWIW - 3 just ruined it for this discussion.
Maybe Iron Man 3 is great and then we have to consider it as well?

I agree, but I can't put it above The Godfather trilogy. Part III sucked, but the first two are two of the greatest films of all time.
You could make an argument for it over the others on your list, but I would probably put Indiana Jones above Nolan's Batman. I have tried to remove that abomination know as "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" permanently from my mind.
ETA: I would also put it below the Original Star Wars. frick George Lucas for Episodes 1-3.

I'm sorry but anyone who puts The Dark Knight Trilogy above such trilogies as The Godfather Trilogy is really smoking something.
The Godfather - Best Picture winner, #2 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of All-Time list.
The Godfather Part II - Best Picture winner, #32 on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies of All-Time list.
The Godfather Part III - Best Picture nominee, definitely the weakest of the three but still a solid movie nonetheless.

No not really. The batman trilogy has 3 good films. Godfather only 2. No one is saying godfather part 1 or 2 is not better than any of the batman movies

I also don't consider the first three Indiana Jones movies a trilogy because of how loosely connected the stories are. Trilogies usually contain stories that connect the three films.

The Godfather Part III is a good film, it's just not a great one like the other two were. Despite its inferiority it still was nominated for 7 Academy Awards (the second most nominations that year), including Best Picture.

Now you understand how I feel about TDKR

Well this is an opinion. Most people not only dislike part 3, but hate it. Critically, it received a very mixed reception.
