Can't help but be frustrated at how many of those chances were wasted ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

Since 2009 when Rafa wanted to get Jovetic as a cover for Torres this team has been trying in vain to get a proper second striker. Since Beardsley, Aldridge and Rush we haven't had a proper front line with multiple threats. Right now it seems the midfield and the back line are well balanced. All we need is a striker who can partner Suarez and possibly an A-grade winger and that should be it.

Didn't realize Rafa went after Jovetic. Would have been a great signing.

Rafa chased a lot of great guys. The administration fricked us so hard with the signings they (reportedly) forced on him. And then they refused to give him money for guys like Jovetic, Falcao, etc.

Alves, Villa & Silva, too... Rafa was pretty dialed into La Liga... "El Benitels"

Yup all of the above. Didn't he almost sign Ronaldo too or was that Houllier?
People don't realize how good Rafa was for us. Given the funds he was provided he performed very well. Tactically he was absolutely brilliant. He had great connections on the continent especially in Spain and his playing philosophy was a pretty good fit for us. In Rafa I trusted.

That was Houllier, apparently we werent prepared to offer the wages he wanted as a kid...
I thought Rafa was the safest bet this time around, but I have a feeling he would have clashed with FSG... Can you imagine him being in charge on this past deadline day?? Then again, if he had all the cash Damien and Kenny did, perhaps we'd be playing CL this year...
Oh well, many different ways to play the game and I'm excited to see the kind of football Rodgers wants to play...

I think Rodgers and Rafa are similar in many regards

In case you wanted to know, Charlie Adam was Charlie Adam in both Scottish qualifiers. Stupid bookings, "Hollywood" passes, and free kicks aimed at the ISS.
Former Liverpool target Ki Seung-Yeung (now of Swansea) scored an own goal in a Korean draw with Uzbekistan.

Looks like some disgusting things are coming out today about the Hillsborough Disaster from the HIP. Such a tragedy that a cover up like this could go on.

David Cameron apologizes, acknowledges cover up.

I was watching the coverage on Sky Sports this morning. Absolutely criminal that it has taken this long for those lies to be exposed...

Dont know how much belief to put into this, but Bill Simmons says in his latest podcast that John Henry may sell the Red Sox this winter to focus on LFC...

I wish Malcolm Glazer would sell the Buccaneers. I may be one of the few Buccaneers/LFC fans around. He was a fantastic owner for the Bucs and took the franchise to new heights. However, ever since he bought MU, it seems like he has neglected his NFL franchise.

There was a great opinion article on bloomberg this morning about Henry. Really good read, I'll look for a link.

Check it out.

The problem is that while Henry may be determined to stop spending recklessly, the teams that succeed in the Premier League are generally the teams that spend recklessly. They just spend it on better players than Liverpool has.
If Henry doesn’t want to compete for talent with oil sheikhs and debt-happy American corporate raiders -- see, for example, the Glazer family, which owns Manchester United -- his options are limited. He can continue to subsidize the team’s losses with his Red Sox TV revenue while trying to build another Arsenal (which, like a mutant superhero, seems somehow capable of perpetually reconstituting itself after losing seemingly irreplaceable parts). He can hope that the Premier League finally imposes some spending restrictions on its teams. Or he can go have a last pint at Arkles and sell the club before Liverpool’s supporters are once again burning U.S. flags at Anfield.

That headline isn't going to do the S8# any good. I do not see the S*# selling any papers in Merseyside for the next 100 years at the least. They haven't even apologized properly for what they did 23 years ago.

Maybe not, but a lot of people thought they wouldn't even do this.

It says they are "profoundly sorry" for false reports in the bottom left corner.
We all know that The Sun isn't a quality newspaper, but to go to this length in apologizing is somewhat admirable. I mean, how many employees are still there from the incident?
And, again, they were reporting what they heard from the police. Did they take it and blow it up? Yep. But now they are apologizing for their actions.
