Sports that are better viewed live

1. Tennis (like David Foster Wallace has written, you simply can't appreciate how hard they are hitting the ball until you see it in three dimensions.)
2. Hockey (similary, you really can't appreciate how fast these guys are skating until you see it live.)
Thoughts?
Others?

I've always thought baseball was better live.

1. Hockey (been to one NHL game, sat right behind the bench and I've been hooked since)
2. Baseball (I love going to a baseball game, but also watch them on TV a lot)

much better live. Watching baseball on tv is unbearable to me. It's just something about the atmosphere at baseball games that's appealing.

It certainly has to be better than baseball on TV. I would rather get kicked hard right square in the dick than watch baseball on TV. And I mean Right. Square. In. the. Dick.

Basketball from an eye level view.

I sometimes get tickets two rows behind the visitors bench for Hawks games. It's freaking incredible how athletic NBA players are. When you see the game up close, it's amazing.

I've seen a few NBA games live. What strikes me is that the players are almost too big for the court. The court seems much smaller with guys that big playing on it.

I was trying to explain this to my wife while watching the NBA finals. How bball is better to me on TV than any other sport. The size of the court and the constant action is perfect for TV. Football, especially at a great college stadium and the environment at big games, TV just can't touch it. Yeah you have HD and can see all the different angles and replays in super slo mo but being in the stadium, smelling the bourbon, downing some stadium nachos and hot dogs, it is just better. And baseball is almost unwatchable on TV. I still watch the Braves games but I won't just tune in for a random game like I will with football and basketball.

Football comes off better on tv by a mile.

You're nuts if you don't think Football is a great television product

I agree. It seems like the court needs another 5 feet all around and the goal needs to be raised to 12 feet or more. What struck me is that an NBA player making a layup probably has the ball travel a foot or less in the air after t leaves their hand they are so tall and high. It almost looks goofy that they are out there.

I do like the sound, the smell, the speed, etc.....
But halfway through the race, all the cars are all jumbled up. The first place car is *here*, then there are 6 lapped cars, then the second place car, then four more cars, and the third, fourth and fifth.
It's really hard to tell what's going on. TV parses it out better.

I tend to agree. I like football live if it's a Vols game, but generally speaking it's better on TV.
