Headwaters broke down a Jackson flex drive on Instagram story today after a failure and I grabbed some shots. The internals on that thing are way different than other drives. The first 2 pics are related as it shows the lever system that drops down the prop. The lever and prop are together and it looks like a solid, smart, and simple design
Now this is where shite gets different. They got the prop out and it’s connected to a long tube and he begins removing the prop with an Allen key
And there you see the failure and what drives that prop mechanically, a worm gear
That’s so radically different than Native, Wildy, and FeelFree it will be really interesting to see how that holds up years in.

The failure was in the flex cable at the connector from the looks of it. It's not that new of an idea...only in kayaks. You can find flex cables in almost...if not all...weedeaters these days.
I'm not putting down the Jackson drives, I'm glad to see the different versions. Will have to watch and see if that's going to be a weak spot.
They should put a shear pin of some kind on the prop...I'd rather replace that than the cable.

If Jackson can get their shite together they have the best idea for a prop drive IMO. And maybe pair that with a Yak that has more of an open cockpit and bigger tank well.

I’m not putting down the drives either. It’s the first really different tech in the prop driven space. They went for it for sure.

Pulled the trigger and bought two Hobie Outbacks. Any suggestions to where to fish at in Cocodrie? Was planning on putting in at Coco Marina and head north.

They have an actual kayak launch and Eddie will give you advice on where to go. There are plenty of YouTube videos as well. There are also lots of things to see to keep you from getting lost.

So you guys seem very familiar with PAC.
I've never fished it, and I stupidly promised my girlfriend I'd help her catch her first redfish Saturday.
My plan is live skrimps/cocahoes under popping corks in duck ponds/marsh
Any other ideas/advice someone's willing to share?

Topwater like a Skitterwalk especially in the early morning. Matrix Shad Lemonhead on a 1/4 oz jighead is another good one. No8Easy2 knows the area better than I do. I'm sure he'll chime in in a bit.

Like lefty said top-water is good early morning if the wind is laid down, my go-to is bone color she dog
I would head north east towards the sulfur mines area marsh, fish all main cut heading that way
Just look for moving water, last Sat is was stained but not terrible
The grass is thick thick but it’s your friend
find and edges then take ya time and fish those hard with spinner baits, gold spoon, fire tiger swim baits and of course if you have shrimps under cork ya golden
If throwing matrix or plastics I’d go with green hornet, lemonhead and limbo slice like colors
Hell they’ll hit just about anything, also talk to Eddie at the launch for info

You'll like it. This time of year I would fish the deep holes along the telephone poles after hitting the shallows early.

I'm recently getting into kayak fishing. I have an SUV with a roof rack. What's the best way that I could transport the kayak? Do I need to invest in a trailer?

People roof rack kayaks all the time. You should be fine. Just keep that in mind when you are looking at boats though. Cartopping a 70lb Hobie Compass is a lot different than cartopping a 120lb Pro Angler

No clue. Maybe we'll get lucky and all that freshwater to the west pushes fish eastward towards PAC.
Mouth of the Atchafalaya is about 50 miles from PAC, so hopefully thats enough distance to keep the fishing from getting too messed up. If not, maybe Eddie will host a bass tourney
