The times I've been there have been awkward at best. Even if the place is packed, half of the patrons would be adolescents drinking soft sodas and sharing chicken entrees. Not sure what consumer base they were expecting to cater to.

Not sure what you're talking about. This place is mostly hibachi. Have you been there?

Unfortunately, Outback may be too...Nagoya's a pretty cool place, but when you go on a Friday night and the place is dead, that ain't good...Outback has cut back on portion sizes over the years, but you can still get a tasty steak & other things at a decent price...I guess the White Oak, Hickory Ridge & Shenandoah folks are either dining at home, or eating elsewhere.

Has the restaurant scene changed any in the jones creek/coursey area? Last I remember was the new Nagoya on market just opened, a sushi place is the works next to albertsons, and tiger paw changed name or something.

Just my observations, nothing in stone.

City Cafe seems to be doing well, and now having a patio like George's with live music is a plus.
Tiger Paw = The Chinese/Sushi place next to City Cafe, and they may have already shut down...... Everyone except for City Cafe & maybe nasty arse George's seems to be struggling, and that includes Portobella's.

The sushi place next to Albertson's never happened.

ETA: Dempsey's seems to be doing well too, but I don't know what kind of nighttime biz they get as I only eat there for lunch.

Also, Jones Creek Cafe has a nice place but I hardly ever go there, so I don't know if they're doing good or bad.

yeah .. i think a buffet would have worked in that spot just fine .. sushi and hibachi is expensive as shite to feed a family .. and is an event more than a weekly meal .. i agree .. i found that choice of that location for an upper end concept to be odd ... the other sushi place -- Natsu -- next to City Cafe is probably on death watch too .. and the sushi joint that was supposed to open next to albertson's has done nothing with that spot in over a year .. so i will assume that place is done too ..

yeah .. portobello's seems to be fighting right now too ... IMO .. they don't really do enough in the appreciation department for their regulars .. I used to be one .. but a couple of my favorite bartenders left there about a year ago and i kinda stopped going .. my parents still go there and have complained lately about cold food and the portions shrinking ..

No, everything is pure speculation on my part...The last few times I've been to Outback on weeknights it was dead. You combine that with the fact that they're not open for lunch and I'd guess that they'd have to be kicking arse on the weekends to make ends meet. Again, just my observation.

I thought I'd heard at one time that Pieworks was going to reopen in the shopping center on Jones Creek where Ralph's Market is. Maybe I was dreaming. I would like for something decent to open up in that center. Cajun J's wasn't very good.

I had heard that too. They really need a restaurant in that shopping center.

Whatever happened to that restaurant Buddy's?
He moved around to several locations and I finally lost track of him.
