Anyone been? Anyone think it'll outlast the Blind Tiger? I saw tey were hiring bartenders and was interested in applying. Just seeing if anyone has tried it yet.

I've been to the one in Central. Not a fan of it.

Tex-Mex is frustrating in BR. I was high on La Carreta for a while, but it had a subpar performance on Saturday (Bluebonnet location).
So now it's back in a pack that includes Coyote Blue, Superior, and Ninfas. All have been good, but have had moments were they were below average.
So what else is there? I've never tried Ahuuas and while lurking (I only recently registered, finally), I saw some folks like it. Is that the answer?

I go to the one in Central on occasion. It's not bad at all. I like their chips and salsa and I've never had a bad meal there especially for the price. Much better than the atrocity that was Ninfa's this past Saturday night.

Same.
I might have gotten the wrong thing, but I just wasn't a fan.

I got the fish tacos. They were'nt good at all. I prefer to drive down the road to El Rancho. The Tacos Al Carbon there are really good.

tiger the one in Central is horrible but the BR location is pretty good. I know this makes no sense but its the truth. We have been twice and very happy both times. Will it outlast Blind Tiger it should but we will see.

never understood the love for La Carretta, tried multiple times, and think it is the blandest food in town.

Just got back. Overall it was good. The salsa was good. Got the crawfish bread as an appetizor and that was great. The chimichanga was ok, nothing special. Girlfriend got the quesadillas and didnt like them. Good prices except the crawfish bread was kind of expensive ($13).

Been to the one in Central a couple times. My wife ordered something off the grill and it all tasted and smelled like bacon.Went once more and it was ok at best.If we are in BR we usually go to Ahhuas(sp)on Jones Creek.Been very good each time.

quote:I was hoping that would be the answer, sadly it was not. All of the places in BR are ok and each have things I prefer over others. Caliente in Central has horrible enchilada sauce. It tastes canned. But their sampler appetizer is usually my go to. El Rancho has guacamole without pico mixed in so I usually eat way more of it than I should. I also really like El Rancho's queso. Ahhuuas queso was bland to me but my husband loved his fajita chimi. So I am still going where ever my friends feel like going or pick the restaurant based on who has the best item I feel like eating that night.

La Carreta and Casa La Vida are my favorite Mexican joints. But I order the same shite.. Steak Chimichangas. So take that for what it's worth. I like Coyote Blues, but what I eat there doesn't make me think of Mexican food so I don't even consider it that

Agree with you LL that BR "Tex Mex" is very meh. Hell, that could be said for Nola tex-mex too (and my go-to place in Metairie is either Carreta's or Casa Garcia
; Nola actually has a few good tapas/Spanish kind of places but not Tex Mex).
I actually prefer Casa Maria a million times over La Carreta...plus the food is cheaper. I haven't been to Coyote Blues since I was a freshman (basically 3 years ago) but I really enjoyed the food I had there.

Just got back from the one in br and I thought it was great! I liked the salsa, very tomatoey based which was good. Had the chicken fajitas which were big and very good. Margaritas were ago good and very fairly priced. 12oz- $5. Overall meal was good and they definitely earned my business for future drinking and eating
