Going to be staying around the Causeway/I-10 area for a couple of days this coming week. Good places to eat for dinner?

Yeah, they have their share, but anyone with half a brain can find plenty of alternatives for good food that is not at a chain.

What kind of stuff do you like?
Seafood, go out to Bucktown and eat at R&O's.
High end kind of French? Go to Chateau Du Lac in old Metairie

Impastatos, Austins, Restaurant Cypress are all good.

For something a little cheaper, go to Crazy Johnny's in fat city. Get a bowl of the BBQ shrimp sauce with the french bread and the filet po-boy that comes with the crazy mashed potatos.
Eat like a king for less than $12.

Skip it. Hit up Impastato's instead.

Agree with all of this. Vincent's is good too and so is New Orleans Food & Spirits in Bucktown. Caffe Caffe is good for lunch/dessert time.

I forgot about Crazy Johnnie's being around there. It's been a long time since I ate there. I'm sold.

If you have to stay within a few block, Crazy Johnny's for beef or Drago's for seafood. La Carreta for Mex. Kano or Shogun for sushi, with more varied fare at the latter. Mr Gyro's still around for Mediterranian?

If you can travel some, all those other suggestions are good. (Used to bus and R&O).

When faced with Dragos vs. CJ's, go big and do both: start with a dozen ersters (or two) at Drago's bar, then wander over to Johnnies for steak filet/po-boy/Mischa. Finish strong with Morning Call coffee and beignets just around the corner.

Mr. Gyros is closed I think and CJ only does the poboy at lunch only.
