It doesn't really matter at this point but was it him or another recruit that said he wanted to play for the redsox?

After reading his reply in interview I would rate him about 80% to come to LSU because the Rangers Drafted him thinking they can convince him to pitch. 100 mph fastball is like cocaine to MLB but from what I hear he doesn't like waiting for a turn to pitch he wants to play everyday. It depends on how much the Rangers think they gamble hoping to change his mind but I would bet they are wasting their time.
LSU will be happy to play him everyday and pitch occasionally and he will be OK waiting 3 yrs to try again. Certainly up in the air but I am Betting LSU.

I agree. Like I said earlier, I really feel we'll see Gallo on campus. I don't know why, I just have a gut feeling he'll be playing third next year in purple and gold.

I haven't kept up with his recruitment or anything, but that's an insane amount of money to turn down to go to school.

Gallo would play 1B and Katz 3B, assuming Gallo makes it to campus.

Hard to turn down over a million dollars though. I'm 50/50 on whether he makes it to campus once they throw big money at him.

Very true. However, in three years he more than likely will still be playing for for the Hicktown Biscuits in Double-A somewhere and hadn't sniffed the majors yet. He could do some good going to LSU and developing that swing even more and end up a top 10-15 pick in a few years. Besides, he'd basically facing his future minor league competition every weekend in the SEC anyway. I don't know... maybe I'm just very optimistic.

Adam said last night the Rangers should have 5.5 million to split between five players which means they'll more than likely lose two or so of those kids. They may also try to get him to pitch, which he hates, and to top it off he wasn't happy he fell so far. There's just a lot of variables that could very easily fall out way.

What's the difference in slot money for where gallo was drafted compared to getting drafted 10-15 in the first round?

So...who of our drafted picks we expected to lose for sure? The two first-round guys? Don't see a lot of our guys getting drafted. That can either be a sign of good things about this signing class or bad.

Where he was drafted he's looking at a max of $1 million or less. If he made it top 15 he is looking at $2.5 - $7 million...
