Was that winterfell that was destroyed or the little town that Bran and Rickon were followed to?
I thought that was poorly done, having read just the 2nd book, I was curious how they were going to explain this.

So, I guess we don't know if the coward died at the end or if the walkers just went passed him.

So after they left, they came back? Did they never leave?

Seemed like they went right past him. Don't know why though because they hate everything with warm blood. Maybe they knew he was a coward, and they don't take cowards. I don't know.

If you notice though, the guy on the horse doesn't move on...everyone moves on but him. So who knows?
And yes I'm a bookreader and that isn't a spoiler cause that scene wasn't in the book so I have no idea either.

What do you mean? The Ironborn left Winterfell, and burned it on the way out. Whether or not they left out the front gate because they gave up Theon, or out the side gate to return Theon to his father is up for speculation.
Oh, I see what you were asking now. Yes, Bran, Rickon, Osha, and Hodor left, and then went back to hide in Winterfell. That was explained at the end of Episode 9.

Bran, Rickon, Osha, Hodor left after she fricked Theon and killed the guard got to the farm then doubled back and hid in the crypts. They emerged after Winterfell was burned and everyone was gone/dead and are now heading north.

they left, then circled back to Winterfell because they thought Theon would never look for them there

Wait, who is benjen and mance again?
Posted on 6/4/12 at 11:28 am to Salmon
Ok, thanks for the explanation. Somehow I missed that. Sucks to be a Stark!
Posted on 6/4/12 at 11:28 am to TulaneUVA
jon snow's uncle, and mance is the king beyond the wall, which we haven't seen yet
Posted on 6/4/12 at 11:29 am to TulaneUVA
Benjen is Ned Stark's brother and Mance is the brother of the wall that is now leaing the wildings

Benjen Stark is Ned's brother and uncle of Robb, Arya, Sansa, Jon, etc. He is a Captain of the Night's Watch, but has been missing since early in Season 1 when he was lost on a Ranger mission beyond the Wall. Mance Rayder is the king of the Wildlings beyond the wall. We have not seen his face yet, but heard that the Rangers are out looking for him and his Wildling army.

Benjen is Jon's uncle that went past the wall and never came back. No one knows if he is dead or alive. He was in season 1 of GoT.
Mance is like the leader of the wildlings. He was a night's watchmen that left the wall and set out on his own past the Wall

This is what leads me to speculate that Mance is Benjen. I think he was fed up with the weakness of the Night's Watch (who has been ignored by the Kingdom), and decided to fight the White Walkers with an army of Wildlings.
This is all speculation.

Ok, same thing. Captain of the Rangers (who are part of the Night's Watch).

I agree with everything you just said.

Earlier in the season some of the Night's Watch spoke of Mance and they knew who he was. I don't believe they would be out looking for Ned's brother if they knew he was the king beyond the wall. The Nights Watch knows who the king beyond the wall is.

Yeah, but I thought it was pretty vague in the show as to whether they actually knew who Mance was (as in they'd met him) or whether they just knew that Mance was a former Ranger. One way or another (dead or alive) we'll have to find out what happened to Benjen at some point. It is fun to take guesses at it though. That is why I am happy with the way the show ended. Lots of stuff to find out.
I am still not clear on exactly what happened with Tyrion in this episode. Why hasn't Tywin stuck up for him? Did Joffrey and Cersei make up a story downplaying his efforts in the battle? Tywin had to know that Tyrion was out fighting with the men, no? I don't get why they are secluding him.
