I am still not clear on exactly what happened with Tyrion in this episode. Why hasn't Tywin stuck up for him? Did Joffrey and Cersei make up a story downplaying his efforts in the battle? Tywin had to know that Tyrion was out fighting with the men, no? I don't get why they are secluding him.
I was wondering this also. Seems like someone would have stuck up for him or told Tywin about Tyrion but I guess going against Joffrey and Cersei's words would probably mean death.

Yeah, but I thought it was pretty vague in the show as to whether they actually knew who Mance was (as in they'd met him) or whether they just knew that Mance was a former Ranger. One way or another (dead or alive) we'll have to find out what happened to Benjen at some point. It is fun to take guesses at it though. That is why I am happy with the way the show ended. Lots of stuff to find out.

Are you fricking kidding me with this? What the frick man? I don't need to know shite like this.
This is no different than giving us information from book 3.

Weaksauce.
There goes the fun of speculating about Mance

What Tom posted last night wasn't a spoiler. But this sure as frick is.
Dumbass.
Dumbass.

I have not read any of the books and don't consider this to be a spoiler as it is out there for everyone to see in mnay places. I don't believe that the HBO series has in any way tried to represnt Mance as the same person as Ned's brother. If you genuinely believe I am wrong let me know and I will delete my post as I truly don't want to post spoilers of any kind.

fricking A, why can't people realize that not every question in this thread has to be answered absolutely. If people want to speculate fine, but there is no need to go look shite up on IMDB and answer questions. frick.

I don't genuinely believe shite. What you posted is an absolute answer to a question that I was trying to just speculate on. I don't want to know the fricking answer. Hence my line in a previous posting,

I don't take it as malicious, but just so you know, people here absolutely consider information from IMDB about future episodes to be spoilers.
Can you edit your last post as well, so other people don't see it? They will appreciate not seeing any info on this.

I edited my post but I truly don't believe it was a spoiler. Nowhere in any of the shows I watched this season did they even remotely allude to the fact that Mance could be John's uncle. In fact, in every episode that he was mentioned by the men of the black they mentioned his characteristics and stated that he is well known by them.

I know. I am speculating on it, and we are theorizing as to whether or not it could be. There are a lot of things they try to hide from us in the show (such as whether or not the burned kids were the Stark boys). Would it have been cool to come here while everyone was asking if Theon burned the Stark kids, and be like "IMDB says the boys will return in episode 9"? That is all.
It was no different than last year when someone posted "Jaime Lannister is cast for season 3". It told people that he wasn't going to die. That is knowledge many would not like to have.

We are all extremely sensitive about this show and spoilers. A good rule of thumb is of you can't figure it out from just watching the show, then its a spoiler.
And after last night I'm beginning to wonder if that rule even helps because what Tom posted.wasn't bad but he got roasted.
Bit yeah, anything from wiki or imdb or any other site about upcoming episodes or.casting should be considered spoilers.
It's not always easy to know what you should mention.

Do you not remember the Tyrion and Tywin's conversation in season 1 before going to battle?
Tywin isn't the best father to Tyrion to say the least...

Yes, but then he later atoned for that by making Tyrion the Hand of the King (in his stead). I would think he would also appreciate that Tyrion helped stave off the attack from Stannis. Therefore, the only thing I can come up with is that Joffrey and Cersei took credit for Tyrion's planning and downplayed his role.

Another thing to think about -- Tywin has to think there is a chance Jaime will die under the control of the Stark's. I assume Tywin still believes they have Jaime at this point in the story. Tyrion would be his heir if Jaime died, I would also assume. You would think Tywin would speak up for him some.

alot of bad blood there. Tyrion is basically blamed for killing his mother (since she died in birth). Not to mention how pissed the great Tywin Lannister is that his son is an imp. Tywin basically tried to get rid of Tyrion in the first season by sending him in the vanguard with the hill tribesman. Add to that the story Tyrion told Shae about his father hiring a whore to be his wife just to teach him a lesson...

No. Everything that he just stated was laid out plainly in Season 1.

It was stated a couple of times that Mance was a member of the Nights Watch and defected. Benjen hasn't been seen since the beginning of season 1. I don't think it would be totally out of the question to think this.
ETA: this = Benjen is/will be Mance.

I want to apologize for posting a spoiler couple days ago. I mentioned that in the previews for last night's show, Tywin was shown riding his horse into the Throne Room. I wished/prophesied that the horse would take a dump on the Throne Room floor. Viola! My prophesy came true. Hope that no one was offended by the early warning of such a repulsive sight.
