My friends had a beginners rule that when you hit it into a bunker, you had the option to put your back to the hole and throw the ball backwards over your head as a substitute for your shot
You can't make that shite up

SLOW PLAY is the #1 enjoyment killer for me.
I see guys who shoot in the 100's out there taking four deliberate practice swings on every shot. There practice swing looks nothing like the swing. they hit it 40 yards and then proceed to deliberate over which club to hit adn then take another four practice swings. THIS SHOULD BE BANNED from the game.
That and doing 40 laps around the green to read your putt (for a 7) from every conceivable angle. Unless you are in a big time tournament, get a read and hit your damn putt.
also, Guys too lazy to walk over to their ball and be ready to hit when their cart buddy is done. I see guys who have a ball 20 yards from their cart partner yet they will sit in the cart while their partner hits and then wait for him to get back in and drive him over 20 yards to his ball. At that point he has to get his yardage, spent five minutes picking a club and proceed with the requisite 4 practice swings.

That's cute, but I try to play as it lies most of the time. MOST of the time.

I don't get angry if I think they people who are slowing me down are trying to improve their game. It takes time and focus to become consistent.
You can definitely tell if it's on purpose, and when it becomes excessive.
I do laugh when someone reads the putt from every angle and then leaves it halfway short.
I'm trying to improve my game...that's why I tee off at 6 AM on Monday mornings. I can slow down if I want.

Depends on where we're playing and the conditions, but you're right most of the time it doesn't matter. Still when most of us were taught the game, you were taught to not do that.
Just remembered another pet peeve of mine that this particular guy does on every shot. He's Mr. "what'd you hit there" guy. Once or twice is fine, but he used to do it every shot, like I'm his GPS or something. I finally had to tell him "you and I are playing for money, I've got honors b/c I just beat you, I'm not giving you the advantage of seeing what I hit and judging your club off that, you see the yardage on the card and tee box markers, you choose from that like I had to".

I can't stand playing with one of my good buddies anymore.
He's terrible (no I am not good either) but after hitting one good shot he tells everyone how well he hit today.
He does not watch his shot ever. He swings and walks off. We get to the fairway he asks if we've seen his ball. He will pick the furthest drive and point at that ball and say "that's probably mine." Never is. Never!
Same guy tells me how well I would play if I had new clubs. I consistently out play this guy but talks about how I need new gear.
So much more that aggravates me from this guy alone
ETA: He asks what club I used on every other shot. Then he'll give his opinion on why I should or shouldn't have used this or that club. I have inconsistent drives. I hit my irons far. I putt way too many times but I know what club to pull out dang it![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

My pet peeve is people who wait for others in their group to hit before they go to their ball/figure out what they are going to hit. This isn't the tour, play fricking ready golf.

it also sucks when you have a guy who chips back and forth across the green ten times. After two of those, I will stop his ball and tell him it checked up nicely.

Mine and it doesn't happen a lot is when someone in the group brings his son. Now I applaud him getting his son into golf, but giving him lessons on everyshot when the kid can barely hit the ball isn't gonna cut it. Played in a trny. once and was paired with father/son/and step mother to be. The dad was a decent golfer, the kid maybe in the 6th grade, had obviously played the game alot. Well, by the end of the round, my partner and me were well ahead of the father/son and the father was starting to press a little. When his son made a bad shot, he tried to tell the son what he did wrong. Well the kid knew what he did wrong and it started to rub him the wrong way. Long story long, it wasn't pretty at the end. Side note, the soon to be stepmom was hot.

I was playing at City Park yesterday by myself. I had a guy and his girlfriend playing in front of me which is annoying enough. But whatever, I'm by myself so I'm hitting a few practice shots. As I was hitting my second shot on the second hole, the two guys who tee'd off BEHIND me zoomed by in their cart to go to the third hole tee box and jump in front of the guy and his gf. So now I have to wait for the guy and his gf and these two guys to tee off on the third. I think it's the most pissed off I've ever been on a golf course. I walked off the second hole green to my car, made a complaint to the pro shop, then left. That's what I get for going to city park I guess.

I play a few times a year with a friend that doesn't live near me anymore and his wife calls him at least 10 times while we are on the course. Not texting, phone calls. I make fun of him to his face about it.

Sandbaggers, reverse sandbaggers and prople who spend 10 minutes looking for a lost ball.

I was playing at LSU with a friend and this wasted guy was playing behind us with his smoking hot gf or wife. Well he was terrible, and his girl was kind of playing as well and they were getting into screaming fights, so we were actually playing a little faster than he was. Around hole #5 I guess she gave up so it was just him, this guy wasn't even putting, he would hit it on the green, walk up and whack it towards the hole and move on, whatever.
Anyway once she stopped he caught up with us, on #7 before the par 3 we would gladly have let him play through the par 3 but we were already hitting our approach shots on 7 so we decided to finish up, then let him through.
He zooms past us as we are getting to the par 3, drives his cart right around us and announces, "I'm playing through". We were kind of taken aback but we were like whatever, we were going to let him through anyway.
Well he decides it's ok to hit 4 balls into the par 3, and then take his time hitting horrible chips and putts on all of them.
It pissed me off but he was so drunk we decided to let it go and just eat lunch after 9 and hope he plays ahead. Thankfully he quit after 9 but it really pissed us off. He's lucky we are both pretty calm guys or he could have gotten his arse kicked

Old people playing in front of me, especially if it's a foursome.
They are all slow players, they don't hit far, and they take fricking forever on the greens.
Yes, I am prejudiced against geriatrics in golf.
