All I remember about t-ball is standing around chewing on my glove.

If you keep score in t-ball then something is wrong with you. Its all about kids having fun and doing funny/stupid shite.

Please don't do as the poter suggests, just teach them what fundamentals and mechanics they can learn. Having them line up to hit the ball a certain way is just as bad and the throwing issues you originally brought up. There is not another league that they would ever "line up" to hit a baseball down the 3rd base line.

Yea right. You can put the kid in the back of the box and have him pull the ball to the left side of the field and get a hit. Or have him hit it right back to the pitcher or straight to the 1st basekid and get out. Having a kid pull the ball is fundamentally sound.

I'd teach my kids to hit it to 3rd every time.

ETA: Either that or bunt

It was the deliberate avoidance of throwing the ball in the air to prevent overthrows that I thought was poor taste. What are those kids going to do at the next level, roll the ball to first?

when they are older (at the next level) they will have the hand eye coordination to throw and catch.

At age 4, I could hit, throw and catch. some can. some cant.
we are all different.

It seems the better part of valor to teach your little guys to alligator too. its a skill, at that 'level'.
