Here's to Charles Alexander and the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame

Check out the 4 minute mark

My co-worker is his cousin, even though they say brother and sister. This morning he sent her a picture of a football with his name and the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame etched into it.

Charles the Great

Probably the first "Great" tailback in SEC history. Some will laugh at that statement. But go back and look at history he was probably the first player that took games over and dominated from the tailback position.

I'll date myself. Was on the team at that time. Charles is the nicest, kindest most humble player I ever knew.

And if he was signed today out of high school people on the rant would be flaming recruiting. He averaged about 7 carries a game in high school. Jerry Stovall saw him and offered him. The fact of the matter was he saw the 6'2" 215 pounds running 4.3 and getting to top speed at the second step. His acceleration was sick. But it is doubtful Rivals or Scout would have ranked him very high because he didn't really get that many carries in high school as I remember it.

Loved watching him play back in the day of the tear-away jerseys.

Recall the "Alexander4Heisman" bumper stickers well. Man was way ahead of his time as a rare combination of speed, power, and moves. One of my favorite players ever.

Perhaps the most underrated LSU player of all time IMHO. He was the Tiger version of Herschel or Bo before either of them broke out. Great to finally see him so rewarded.

Way to go, Charlie!
