Im going on a duck hunt later in the year and I am looking for a shotgun to use for the hunt. I am deciding between two; the benelli nova 12 gauge pump, or the remington 870. Any thoughts? or other models that aren't over 700 bucks?

Both great guns. Can't go wrong with either.

Are they both new guns? If so, I'd go with the Benelli...

Either are solid.......can't go wrong either way. I've had both and can't decide still.

I love my supernova. The recoil reducing stock deal makes a difference IMO

I owned a Nova several years ago, but the trigger was so bad I had to sell it. The pull on that thing was over 8 pounds. I would assume that Benelli has corrected that problem by now. They're both good guns and will last forever if you take care of them.

I shot both on one hunt this season. My cousin has the Nova and I have the 870.

The nova was an awesome gun, with little kick. My 870 however, kicks like a fricking mule.

You can buy a new remington 1187 for under $700. That would be my recommendation.

If you are talking wingmaster, then hands down the 870 by a very long ways.

If you are talking 870 express, they are what and what. Get whichever one feels better.

As much as I love my 870 sportsman (older model) they don't make em like they used to. My brother has a new nova and I like it better for a new gun. Old 870 wins but go nova for new.
