Hey Owlcrap - "Commitment" and "recruiting" go hand and hand. Next time you see "commitment", check out the "recuiting" board or "SEC recruiting".

To me it is damn impressive that Jones comes in this late and turns this class around. Developing recruits takes years and he comes in after national signing day and picks up a couple of guys that should be able to contribute this late? I think we are in for some talent to start coming back to Baton Rouge for basketball.

all because he has mad connections in louisiana. good for JJ. obviously not elite pickups but solid under the circumstances. i still see a brad bridgewater type JC signing before this is over with.

Under the circumstances it is like picking up 5 star guys. I think both the guys we got are SEC caliber from the get go and may not start right away but will start games for LSU at some point. We do need some bigs though. A couple of 6'10 guys that are at least serviceable. Hamilton leaving really hurt us worse then people think IMO. We have NO SIZE.

Yes, and he is a top 10 JUCO right now. Hammink is a top 10 euro player that is available. Both will contribute heavily and getting them this late is incredible IMO.

Im not so sure about that. Coleman was looking around when trent was coach and so was hamminik. Geert was quoted as saying Jones getting hired would make him push shane to LSU even more.

I know you are trolling but Coleman is solid and Hammink is anything but average. He is the best player at one of the most elite bball academies in Europe. He was MVP of a tourney in Europe where his team played an American team made up of the 5 star number 1 recruit for 2013 Andrew Harrison and another 5 star Aaron Harrison among several other high profile guys. When his school played them he led both teams in scoring. Hammink was getting looks from schools like UF. He was a big pick up.

considering Trent cut bait and ran with less than a week until NSD, if Jones can manage us to find at least 1 big man who can log some good minutes next season you'll have to come away pretty impressed with the effort.

people can call these 2 locks under Trent all they want, but the fact Trent had tons of schollies available for over a year and these 2 had yet to pull the trigger and commit to him. I'd say they were more than a little apprehensive.

Still impressive that we were able to land them, no matter how long we've been on them.

This isn't football. Much more certainty on the basketball scene for the most part.

I'm telling you JJ pulled in late signee's at UNT on many occasions. Both of these guy's look above average and should do LSU well. If LSU needs "bigs" then JJ and Co. are on it. You can bet JJ will pull one in. If the "big's" out there to be had aren't LSU or SEC talent then JJ will bite the bullet and take the tigerdroppings heat and not sign a big. Then he'll figure out how to play around deficit and wait until next year to recruit a big man.

People keep talking about Nola/LA and comparing the talent to DFW, but why do we completely dismiss BR? BR has a shite ton of basketball talent. BR is responsible for our Final Four in 06. And BR has elite prospects next year.

Sounds reasonable to me. We have talent next season even if we have to small ball the hell out of everyone.
