If we don't make the College World Series this year, he may stay.

If he stays over .400, i cant see him not being drafted in the top 10 rounds
As of right now, if he averages 3.75 ABs for the next 19 regular season games and doesn't get another hit, he'll still finish with a .302 average

ETA: If he bats .267 for the remainder of the regular season, he'll finish at .400.

Obviously though, we'll have more than 19 games left with SEC tournament and post season

Draft rule changes will make it difficult to give later round picks more money like they've done in the past.

Gausman is gone will be a top 5 pick
Katz has a chance to come back, he's the kind of player that doesn't have much ceiling left and I think his draft status will reflect that
Rhymes probably gone, no way he can improve that gaudy average next year
Goody will be 50/50 depending on how high he goes
Fields probably back but with Sciambra coming back he may decide to bolt but he is locking up CF next year
Bonvillain will be back
Bourgeois will likely be back as well

I think we only lose Gausman for sure, and Rhymes possibly.

i think everyone else is safe.

No one else really has jump-off-the-charts type of upside. Maybe Goody, but I think he comes back. He has electric stuff for a college pitcher, but not so much for a MLB guy.

Katz's family is pretty well off financially, and he probably wont be drafted that high. He really doesn't have a position, and could stand to work on his plate discipline.

He's already been drafted twice in the 27th and 32nd rounds and he's a Jr. He'll get more playing time here at the end of the season and he's not gonna stay around for his Sr year when he'll lose his leverage

Leverage for what? If he's not drafted in the top 15 rounds, leverage is meaningless.

OT: I don't want to start another thread but where has Cody Glenn been? I might have missed it but I haven't noticed him pitching recently.

Whoever is drafted in the top 10 rounds is gone. I think we lose katz ryhmes fields goody and gauzman. If we win the CWS it will be mainly because of these guys. Our 3 and 4 hole hitters, Our 1 hole starting pitcher, our CF and faster player, and our closer. GONE!!!!!

He's only pitched twice in the last ten or so games. 2 innings against La College and 0.1 innings against Southern Miss

I'm in the camp of expecting Rhymes to sign. Yes he is not a very good OF, but he doesn't need to be with the way he rakes. He doesn't have great power but you don't need great power when you're hitting near .500 with very few strikeouts. I will be EXTREMELY surprised if he makes it out of the Top 20 rounds this time around and I think he has Top 10 round potential if he keeps his hitting up. If not, still thinking 10th-20th round pick.

I think it will be really different this year due to slot money. I don't think there will be incentive to leave after junior year like it used to be. Now obviously, top 5 rounds will likely go but the only one I see going that high is gausman

Kind of disappointing. Originally they wanted to groom him to be a weekend starter next year, maybe he turns it around like a Bourgeois or Coleman down the road. He might be on the cutting block though if he doesn't show anything soon, dude was a 15th round draft pick last year...he has talent/potential.

I think these guys would be more inclined to leave if we go all the way. Which, I'd be fine with these guys leaving if they do go all the way....you did it for us, have a great pro career!

the reason i am skeptical is because he doesn't have a position. He's not over athletic, so likely he'll have to be a corner OF or 1B at the next level. and he just doesn't hit for enough power to play at those spots.

He does sort of need to develop some power to play at the next level. By not being a great athlete, he'll have to play a position that is expected to hit for some power.

Didn't he play a little 2nd base? Maybe he could be a project at 2nd. His arm is a little shaky but maybe that is because of the surgery.
