Benson, along with the talk of rebrand makes my taint tickle.

Wow. We have come a long way. Just after Katrina, Benson was referred to as Satan by a lot sports fans, now, he's the savior of the Hornets.

All I ask is to match the color schemes, like Pittsburgh has going on.
And not be afraid to spend money on players

I've given Benson a lot of shite over the years. I hated his guts at the time.
But it SEEMS like he's a bit of changed man in recent years. After he got slapped down I think, and from what I hear from people, he has started to think about his legacy. He now knows his life is nearing its end and wants to be remembered as one of the greats in New Orleans history.

The choice of a local majority owner best fits both sides, notes the same source. The 85-year old Benson first became firmly interested in buying the Hornets at the urging of Stern due to the desire of both men to make sure the franchise is firmly entrenched in the Crescent City long term.

Translation: Chouest was too cheap to buy the team and Stern didn't think Raj had enough local interest. Thank you Commissioner Stern. Now go put those lottery envelopes in the freezer.

This is in Benson's long-term interests on multiple fronts, IMHO.
It's good for his legacy for one, but it also maintains the value of the Superdome and surrounding buildings, which I'm pretty sure Benson now owns and leases back to the state of LA as part of his most recent agreement.

I don't think he should kick cox out, but he should definitely restructure their deal to require it be shown in a 100 mile radius or something.

You shouldn't be happy, you're probably about to get downsized, that's what happens with big corporate mergers. The BeeZanies will probably be replaced by these guys

I think this is an unfair characterization. There is a thin line between cheap and business savvy.

I agree, I just couldn't think of a better word. Chouest definitely deserves our thanks because he helped keep the team here.
