Pastner takes heat from Mempho fans cause he is not Calipari

I would not doubt he would look to get out for the right place

and while many youngsters here don't think LSU can be a "right place" many many many coaches disagree

They know this place can be a national championship type contender program- Coaches know this even if fans dispute it

and while Memphis is a solid program, they don't have the amount of money LSU does in general and they also do not have a national platform like LSU does either

hell half the country still calls them Memphis State

exactly

yesterday on Matt Snocone's show either Ponamsky or Love was saying this is true. Snocone asked about Paster denying the report and they said he can deny it all he wants, but they have heard it from LSUs people as well as others from outside of La.

What happened to the ranters stating that our coach would be named by Tuesday and it was either Johnny Jones (with RL as an assistant) or Scott Drew?

Honestly i would love to have a guy that can recruit (I believe thats this guys MO). CBB nowadays has so much to do with recruiting that Ithink it would help the program grow

I just want Joe to stand up and make a hire based on resume not because they bring coleslaw to Collis temple's BBQs.

I never saw anyone who said it was 100%. I thought for sure it'd be Johnny Jones though. I'm pleasently shocked he hasn't been named yet. Pastner would be a steal.

One could take Pastner's comments as typical coach speak.

Kinda sounds like Corey Raymond speak.

So am I reading this correctly?? Alleva is going to choose between Pohm with 1 year's experience using someone else's talent Pastner? Neither having any idea how to build a program that has been struggling.

This is the definition of not being the right fit!!

I'd be happy with Pastner.

We need someone fast. I want our class filled out ASAP.

Coleman, Hammink, and possibly Gathers won't wait around for our HC to be hired.

Has there ever been a coach who left for another school that didn't say something to this effect about a week before they accepted the job?

"I am not interested in any other position. I am happy where I'm at. We are completely focused on the upcoming season."

It's not rocket science.

Recruit, get a couple ballers, and program fixed... Hello NCAA tourney.

Basketball is A TON easier to turn around a program than football. Basketball turnarounds, barring sanctions, can happen almost overnight.

That is good to hear, but we need a post player or 2 to finish the class as well.

You are right that it does not take long to turn around a basketball program.

But walking into a basketball rich area in Memphis after Calipari has teed it up or taking Billy Kennedy's team and coaching them for a year does not prove a lot.

What makes anyone think those guys can draw and sustain interest in a football crazy state where people have been ignoring basketball for years?
