Tim Floyd lives between Bogalusa and Poplarville, his wife says no more moving and utep will be last job, with Baton Rouge only 2 hrs from new home he may would be very interested.

No, I take "we will likely hire someone with Louisiana connections" to mean we will likely hire someone with Louisiana connections, which eliminates the vast majority of the potential field of coaches.
I don't get the LA tie thing when Temple supposedly has the state locked down.

I'd be looking for Texas metro ties, and X&Os.
LA boys will stay home if the team succeeds with a great coach anyway.

By charisma, I'm intending a guy that can recuit nationally/internationally to land top talent, which in turn wins, which in turn fills PMAC with it's largely redneck football fan "killing time" until LSU Baseball starts crowds.

Right now that 3 to 4 K of regulars, are half hardcore hoopsters, then a mix of aging and/or geriatrics that appreciate the one mens major sport that can be watched indoors and at 68*, instead of 100* plus humidity.

The rest a small batch of disinterested ADHD generation of LSU kids that grew up with LSU Hoops being a yo-yo in consistency..a huge portion of which are now native Texans with no sense of LSU Hoops history..some there to rack up priority pts.

LSU Hoops appeal to those under the age of say 27ish, is brutally suffering right now!

This buffoonery from the higher ups is killing the bball program.

Besides, Louisiana recruits aren't and haven't been good in a while.

I'd love a coach that had mid west/east coast ties (where the best bball players are) and have Louisiana assistants.

It sure appears that way, and looks like they will go the cheap route. It sucks but the most important thing I can say is.....................................Thank God these idiots don't have their hands in the football program.

Sigh... becoming a strong program in NCAA basketball requires that a team recruit regionally, being a contender in NCAA basketball requires that a team recruit nationally... this is not Football, if we want to win we need to hire the best possible coach with the best possible recruiting background, it does not matter if he has NEVER set foot in the state of Louisiana in his life.

Be funny is this was Martin's veiled attempt at hinting at Dixon, especially since that was mentioned as a joke earlier in this thread.

Pearl lied, was caught, admitted and faced the music, now doing his time. But, is a winner, and has an exciting brand of ball, he'll be back in 2015 after show-cause expires in late 2014.

Do you believe that Pearl had an advantage on the court by illegal recruiting? What makes you believe that he could be successful if he doesn't cheat?

BP was an excellent Asst at Iowa, won gangbusters at all stops So Indy, Wisc-Mil, Tenn. Outside of his ratting out Illinois over Deon Thomas while at Iowa, and his Tenn stint, he hasn't been in trouble. Has charisma, recruits well, and with loads of personality.

Runs uptempo game, teaches excellent arc ball rotation, spacing, squaring up shoulders, and getting off open look shots. Today's ballers love his style, a true player's coach unlike LSU's last two.

Sure there are at times some turnovers, defensive lapses, also some choked tourney FTs at Tenn.

Pearl isn't any worse than Roy W, K, Cal, etc..he just got caught and/or pursued by NCAA Gestapos targeting him specifically.

Just as Dale and Tark were, meanwhile many of their peers were given a free-ride for running their programs the exact same, whatever that entails.
