for being the most intensely loyal fan base in the league.

After years of suckage fans still supported the team.

After Katrina fans still came out and supported the team.

The percentage of tv's in New Orleans with the Saints on when they play is off the charts.

Goodell could have used heavy fines and a few games suspension and effectively made his point.

But apparently the fans needed to be punished too. It's obvious that Saints fans were NOT a primary consideration when Rog came up with these punishments. The league says it's all about the fans, but it's not.... at least not Saints fans.

Geaux Saints!

The NFL, well it can go take a long walk off a short pier for all I care.

No player suspensions have been announced yet, so get your popcorn for when it does happen. You may want to take a break from the board when it does happen.

i don't think the player suspensions will be that bad for some reason... i'm thinking vilma's out for the year, and maybe will smith and possibly harper

You're exactly right.
Fans are NOT a consideration. Nor should they be when punishing a rule breaker.
I'm as big of a Payton fan as the next but I'm not niave to think he didn't do wrong or that I'm somehow a victim of the NFL, here.

The fans aren't victims of the NFL and Goodell. They're the victims of GW and Payton's coverup. I'm mad at Payton and GW for the misery this season could become, not the NFL.

I don't get where this mentality comes from, that the fans deserve all of this consideration.

================

Agree, fans were never considered and shouldn't be in a ruling of this type.

I think Goodell went overboard with the whole situation and probably had other motives than just the actual bounty scandal in mind when he came down with the punishment.

However....all of this is avoided if the bounty program was simply shut down when the league (Goodell) warned them. It really wasn't that complicated. Goodell to Saints "hey do you have any type of pay for performance type plan in place" , Saints say "no of course not" , Peyton taps GW on the shoulder and says hey man cut that stuff out the league is starting to ask questions. Story over and we are all talking about how Loomis is the man and all he needs to do is sign Brees up long term.

I don't expect anyone to be happy about the Saints paying for the sins of every team in the league, but it's time to stop playing the victim. Living well is the best revenge and this team is still good enough to be a contender.

If the BountyGate scandal hadn't happened and Payton had to step down for a year anyway, say he had some health scare, wouldn't we still think we could win it all? Obviously this assumes a happy Brees in time for training camp, but they've been able to plug most of the roster holes in FA so hopefully we'll see the same old top 3 offense and a new and improved defense.

Yes, Roger Goodell is a Falcons fan. SUPER BOWL in NOLA courtesy of Goodell as a final "EAT IT SUCKAS" moment.

Roger Goodell is my idol. Clearly he hates the Saints more than I do.

I just want a SB home game to rub it in Rogers face, our come back story has been about the rise from Katrina. Now it's time for the Rise above Roger story.

Why would this have anything to do with the fans? This is the kind of stuff we'd be ripping another fan base for posting.
