I can't really disagree with much of what was said there. If Jones had no affiliation with LSU people would flip the frick out over even mentioning his name. I don't think he'd be a disaster or anything, but I think we should at least make some bigger names tell us no before even calling Jones.

It is time for LSU to rise above the good ole boy network and do the right thing.
this particular network shouldn't be that difficult to rise above, in and of themselves. The question is who owns the money relationships...this group or the administration. The guy mentions Emmert and Saban, is there any interest at the top in making similar effort to build the basketball program?

Didn't temple stir some shite on les miles in the past year?

Great article. McKay knows what he's doing.

I figured this was just rant-lore, someone posted that he was petitioning the get Les fired for the whole JJ/Shady's stuff (or something like that).

Even though I so badly would like to see JJ redeem himself at LSU, his coaching job at UNT has certainly not been eye-popping.

Never seen a bigger joke for a hack in La. Someone post on his blog that they are still looking for him to deliver some issues of Purple and Gold.

Huh?
Very well-done article and his political site (Hayride) is very informative.

I think the picture is coming together...Johnny Jones definitely has ties to LA which is what the BOS are looking for. And they are are banking that he is still a great recruiter. But Shaka Smart OR Brad Stevens would be much better hires IMO

I would be one of those people...lol...
Dude has reinvented himself as a right wing blogger...doesn't change the fact that he screwed alot of LSU people. He's a douche.
That being said...
That article was spot fricking on.
He was always a excellent writer...less a quality human being...jmho...

Wow. Absolutely spot on and could not have said it better myself if I had written the article. That is as pointed and correct as it could be.

I traveled with the BB team in '86 and got to know the coaches and players well. (Brown, Abernathy, and Jones). It was a cool time because Jordy H. and Tim B. were with also with us and developing skills (and contacts) with broadcasting. "Bingo, Bango, Bongo" for those that remember.
Jones was a quiet/serious fellow, and I fully respected him and his devotion to coaching. He was valuable and payed close attention to details. Dale was leaning heavy on John Williams that year (much like he did with Chris Jackson)and Jones had the team's respect and friendship.
A funny part of the trip was when Jones bought this gold neckless in DC while at the Georgetown game and it turns green after wearing it. Jose V., Don R., John W., and Anthony (the guard) had a lot of fun with that. Jones took it kind of hard but shook it off.
That's when the team found themselves, started playing as a team and eventually made the final four. Not sure if he is the answer now, but he may be primed to bring some talent this way.

Yeah, apparently a lot of people don't know his backstory. Maybe he's on to something here, but I always take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Not real sure with the exception of Dale how many non-aa folks CT jr does support unless they are kissing his rear, and even then ...........

Who do you think hired the last coach. Not Alleva!
Posted on 4/9/12 at 10:35 pm to whyme
I would love a nostalgic story and even a redemption for JJ with the fan base at LSU, but we have to make the right hire this time. No mistakes!
Posted on 4/9/12 at 10:38 pm to DaSaltyTiger
Frick Collis Temple. I have a low opinion of Alleva, but I think Caldwell was a good catch and basketball SHOULD be the one sport where a Duke hand-me-down should be able to land someone that can rebuild the disaster that our program has become.

I agree...Looks like coming from a BASKETBALL school, he could find a good hire for OUR program.
