Here are some highlights from Carton and Haney's exchanges, which grow increasingly heated and end with Haney hanging up after 23 minutes.
CARTON: You talk about his wife in the book.
HANEY: I talk about his wife only in areas where it pertains to his golf. The first time I talk about his wife is when she asked Tiger, "What are we going to do to celebrate?" And Tiger said, "We don't celebrate victories like this because..."
CARTON: Hank, you talked about the icy stares between the two of them after the accident when you saw him on the range outside of his house. What's that got to do with golf?
HANEY: Because Tiger was preparing for his first tournament back, which was the Masters. I was there preparing with him. CARTON: Right.
quote:
Then Carton's attacks on Haney get even more personal.
CARTON: Let's agree on one thing: That even now, how many years later since you've no longer been Tiger Woods' coach, you are still milking off the teat that is the Tiger Woods cow.
HANEY: That is not correct.
CARTON: No?
HANEY: But you just go ahead and have whatever opinion you want to have, OK? I wrote a book on my coaching Tiger Woods that detailed his greatness and the events that I partook in and you have your opinion and that's OK, but I think when people read the book, they will have a different opinion. The majority have. That's a fact. But you are entitled to your opinion.
CARTON: What do you think the general opinion is? Overall, outside of the guys who will kiss your arse like the guys who will kiss my arse and Boomer's arse and Tiger's arse, what do you think overall the perception of your book is, Hank?
HANEY: It's perception into the greatness that is Tiger Woods. That's the feedback that I am hearing
CARTON: Am I the first guy to give you a hard time about breaking that trust?

I don't see the problem with Haney writing about whatever the frick he wants.

Couldn't turn the radio off this morning...Love the Boomer and Carton show

he can write whatever he wants, but can also be criticized for what amounts to a tell-all book about his former employer

Exactly, someone needs to tell the clown we don't live in Nazi Germany,he's free to do as he wishes...

Haney sucks. This book was all about self promotion, and if you look towards the very end of it, you will see all the Tournaments Tiger played in and his results.

Haney's promoting a book to put some $$ in his pocket and some no name radio clown goes for his 15 minutes of fame.
Wake me when it's over.

I wouldn't have written the book but Haney has that right if he so desires. Should he pass Jack's records, Tiger is the greatest golfer in the last 100 years of the game. Tiger's also a first class prick, common knowledge for years, and once his father died Tiger's moral compass failed. Carlton's a radio shock jock out for publicity.

no name clowns don't get the morning drive radio show in NYC on WFAN my friend
Haney had a right in writing this book and Carton has a right to have a strong opinion about Haney's motives
and to be fair they also played some sound bites of a few PGA players saying the same thing as Carton

I'm not sure Earl's moral compass was pointing true North.

I'm not denying Tiger's a first class prick. I saw him play in a junior tournament at the Air Force Academy when he was a teenager and he was a prick then.
And yes, I know that a host on WFAN is more of a national figure than some guy in Boise Idaho.

It's amazing the talk radio host was able to talk with Tiger's dick in his mouth.

It's not like he was making money by having a two year old Tiger acting like a golf circus freak... wait a second.

When did it become illegal to speak ill of Tiger? Didn't Tiger fire Haney? There are other writers (John Feinstein) that have always been honest about Tiger, not just spout out the "front" that Tiger wanted everybody to believe about him.

By the same token, when did it become illegal to speak ill of people speaking ill of Tiger? Your logic is terrible. Nobody is suggesting Haney shouldn't have been allowed to write the book, just that he shouldn't have. Surely you can see the difference. And just as he has the right to write the book, this radio host has the right to criticize him for it. And you, the radio host.

I didn't listen to this interview, but my general feeling is that people are criticizing Haney, not necessarily defending Tiger. Writing salacious books about your former employer is off-putting to a lot of folks, whether they care for that employer or not.

WTF is this shite? Since it's not illegal to write a book it is wrong for someone to call him out on his reasons for doing it? Which are at least PARTLY to keep riding the Tiger wave as long as possible.
What's your screen name: TT9, got it, I'll remember this the next time I see you disagree with something someone has done and gotten attention for.
