Bunkley is a 6 year pro.
last offseason he was traded for a 6th or 7th round undisclosed pick from Philly to Denver.
at Denver, he had 43 tackles, including 3 stuffs. This is the sample size that Pro Football Focus has used to label him the #1 run stopper.
he has never been an elite run stopper and the people who are saying this are basing it off 43 tackles... a season comparable to what we get out of Sedrick Ellis.
In Philly he was a 14th overall pick who never panned out. He was drafted to give a pass rush up the middle, and he never did that. He has six sacks as a pro.
If the Saints did indeed sign him, it's a quality depth pickup, provided we didnt overpay.
Don't expect an elite 4-3 run stopper. That he aint.

Brodrick Bunkley was that guy as the Eagles first failed to trade him to Cleveland before successfully offloading him to the Denver Broncos. Playing with a chip on his shoulder to some degree, Bunkley simply did what he has always done: wreak havoc against the run game. Featuring some stellar performances such as his incredible domination of Nick Mangold in Week 11, the former Eagle ended the year making 31 stops on 274 run snaps. That’s an outstanding 11.3% of all defensive plays he was involved in. That can’t have gone unnoticed with various teams ready to make a big splash in free agency on an impact defensive tackle.

I'm not sure you are aware of it, but you provided zero evidence he is not good against the run. I also think you don't get PFF ratings. It's isn't purely stats based.

I think I'll just trust Mickey and the coaches, but you may want to check with them to make sure they see what your seeing.

Tackles ain't everything when it comes to run stuffing. Casey Hampton's career high in tackles is 43.

the most tackles Ellis has ever had in season was 30 in 2010. Do you know how many he had last year?
Eleven.

Tort Tiger is also the guy who swore up and down that Brian Cushing never did steroids in his life.

I'm still waiting for any stat at all to do some debunking, anything. I guess you expected us to take just take your word for it? DEBUNKED!
I'm sensing a theme here, people who try to "cleverly" inject their career into their name are usually fricktards, and are usually xray technicians or lawyers. "Tehe, I'ma let all these forum guys know that I have a job!"
God help me if I ever have to sue a xray company.

Me thinks you have no idea what a run stopper is supposed to do. You realize, if he's double teammed but fills up his gap and allows a teammate to make the tackle, he accomplished what he was supposed to that play? If he pushes his man into the backfield at the point of attack, and another defender fills the gap, yet again he accomplished his mission? He's not a huge sack guy, we get that, but then again, there are not that many interior defensive lineman that are. You look more for disruptions than actual tackles. Just because you get a tackle does not mean you accomplished your assignment. If he gets pushed back at the point of attack, but digs in and makes the tackle 5 yards past the LOS, thats not a good thing.
