So not only do we need to win, but win consistently and recently. Got it.

He made a valid point. I don't think it's a bad observation to say that LSU needs to win to build it's program back up again. It's not a basketball school, it's not a basketball state.

Look Roger, I do agree with them to some extent. I don't agree that this is like the hornets though. And I don't think it's fair for a poster to use the baseball team as an example of fan support post winning and then dismiss the fan support of the basketball program when we went to a final four fairly recently and still can't get support.

Hickey was asked a straight forward question, he didn't rant and rave, but answered it honestly. And people want to act like he did something wrong. He was 100% right. We, including myself, need to support the basketball program better. We can't just expect to land a hire, win, and then show up. That's a recipe for losing a coach to a better basketball program.

Roger, with all due respect, what makes a school a basketball school?

Hickey also said the crowd for the Marquette game was excellent so I don't think he's the best and measuring crowds. It was decent at best that night.

Sure the LSU crowd sucked but it comes as no surprise.

For a true freshman from kentucky that likely never experienced an LSU basketball game prior to arriving, the Marquette game was about as good as it got this year crowd wise.

Surely he can't be that dumbfounded as to why there is a lack of support.

why should I have gone? cause they have LSU across their chest?

I believe both of the above quotes qualify the authors for the "fair weather fan club". Nothing like that good old "I bleed purple and gold" attitude.
That's the kind of fan support we need to demonstrate to prospective recruits.

show up for any of the last three regular season games and maybe more fans buy in

Yeah, because they show up for classes, study hall and grueling practices which obviously qualifies for nothing in your eye. Douche nozzle.

Yes, that's exactly why you go.

I love how an LSU player wants support from his own fans, and he's ridiculed for it.

A-Hickey is a young man that plays hard and did very well his freshman season, and I can understand his disappointment in the crowd...He's probably going to be disappointed his whole LSU career playing for Trent "Mr Excitement" Johnson.

With that said, we've gotten to the point with LSU basketball where freakin' moral victories are something to get excited about? That's bullshite.

What's Trent's goal next year, to go deep into the NIT?

Texas, Florida, and Ohio St. fans don't seem to have a problem with this.

When your basketball program is your "flagship" program, it's a basketball school. Kansas, Kentucky, UNC. In the deep south though, football is king and always will be. Average basketball programs will be met with average fan support. A basketball school has a supportive fan base.
