My comments don't have to do with yesterday's game, but fan support for the basketball program generally. I completely understand if people were unable to attend yesterday.

Louisiana isn't a basketball state and people will only support the program if it is experiencing some success, they see other people supporting it and the school goes balls to the wall in promoting it. Dale Brown knew how to promote the program, but it has fallen flat ever since the late 80's and early 90's except a couple notable very successful seasons. The fans will always be conditional about basketball. Hell, Arkansas ....a "basketball school" had trouble filling that cavernous facility. In 2011, they had trouble getting 6-8k in that bldg. It's not just LSU fans.

The school has to commit to resurrecting the program which is going to be a hard sell.

This is what I'm saying. That's pretty uncommon language hip for a 70 y/o in my experience.

Dick-measuring contests. Like it's something objective to be measured.

Those regularly encounter of that demographic don't post on message boards or use that language, especially the "ph" for frick. I'm not judging, I'm just saying I'm a tad skeptical because you don't fit the mold. Maybe my mold is not accurate, I don't know.

not really.... just win...

when the Hornets were almost in the Finals, people were pretty excited about basketball... by now, most people that live here or are from here know we aren't a basketball heavy society.... football is king, but if there's a winner, we'll support it..... but we aren't going to have as much interest in a so-so team... same for soccer....LSU baseball is only a small notch above this, but they have the history and pedigree, though we haven't had too much recent success, which is getting most who follow it, a little weary....

Weren't you the one bringing up winning as a precursor to fan support? Well, making the Final Four is pretty much the pinnacle in college basketball and a hell of a lot of programs have never even had that opportunity. So considering that it was recent, and we still can't drum up fan support in basketball, defeats your argument.

It's called phonics. Is that as old as the hills or what. I was 16 when LSU won the National Championship in 1958 with Warren Rabb at quarterback, Johnny Robinson at Running back and Billy Cannon at the tailback. Max Fugler was the center.

If it were that easy, LSU would already be there. Winning was definitely one of the points in included in my criteria. but it takes a level of commitment the school obviously doesn't have right now. It would take years of consistently winning to return real basketball interest back to the fan base. When they start losing, it will disappear as quickly.

Start winning, begin scheduling games that will draw national interest and the fans will come back, as long as they keep winning.

Not on a consistent basis, not since the early 90's, and back then the PMAC WAS full ! Get it now?

So not only do we need to win, but win consistently and recently. Got it. Basically, we have to be a perennial contender for you. I don't really care if you support the basketball program, but I would like to have fans that come on here to post about it that actually give a shite. That's really all I'm asking. If you want TJ fired, fine. I think you could make a valid argument for that. But hearing it from people that are self-proclaimed fair weather fans that don't support the program, I'll pass.
