Golf Driver question?

I had a couple of kids back to back a few years ago,so I kinda got out of the game for a while.
I'm looking to upgrade my equipment;I'm pretty sure which irons I like, but what is the new hot(but affordable) driver these days? I've always had TM drivers, currently have the old R540. Have any of the other brands caught up? Trying to stay under $400
any advice would be appreciated!!

Hit the demo days this spring. If you liked TM gear then try the Burner/Superfast models and see what you hit good. I have never hit the R7/9/11 models well but hit the Burner great.

I tried out the TM last year, ended up buying the Razr Hawk. The best driver Ive ever hit. I love the thing, distance and accuracy.
I love Callaway products. Im hitting the irons too.

I would suggest buying a 2-3 year old Titleist. I have the 905R and Ive yet to find a new driver I like more.

Great driver. Be sure you find something you really like if you're getting rid of that one. I have an R580, but I snapped the shaft in half last summer during a particularly bad swing. I didn't think it was worth replacing, so I got a Titleist 910D3 to replace it.
If you're going to get a new driver, the real answer is to go hit a bunch and make sure it fits your swing. A poster above said he like the Callaway Razr Hawk, but I couldn't stand it. It didn't fit my swing at all, and I couldn't hit well. Everyone is different.

Titleist 905R
Quite possibly the best stick ever made. I bought mine new back in 07-08 and don't plan on switching until I crack the club head. The are going on ebay for under 100 dollars fwiw

Ya, I love mine too. Until Titleist comes out with something I like better, I'm sticking with it.
I felt the same way about the J I had before.

Adams ... FWIW ... Played Titleist, tested an Adams Speedline last year at Demo day and instantly added 23 yards.

I have an r11
Played with ping drivers and titleist.
I find the tm longer than both the pings and titliest.
All in all it's the Indian not the arrow.

Demo days and get analyzed. Find out what works for you and your swing.
Some hit an Adams, better then a Titty or a Taylor Made.

I think it's crazy how different people find different clubs. I got the Titleist because it was more consistent than the Ping and longer than R11. For me, R11 went nowhere. And, I was thinking R11 would be the club for me because I was upgrading my TM R580, which was a great driver.

Same here. I borrowed one from a friend to try it out, got tired of hearing how it was the bee's-knees. Hit it consistently straight but my 4 year old Titleist was longer without a doubt. The Superfast, however, is long as frick but I couldn't control it for shite. I guess it's the longer shaft

I Love my Superfast 2.0 and I am learning to control it. I did pick up the new Rocketballz Driver this week and haven't even get a chance to take it to the range. I am hoping that the RBZ has the control of the R11 but the bombing power of the Superfast.
The best advice for a new driver is to just go hit a bunch. Once you starting Grooving one or two of them then make your decision. Don't go on anyone recommendations.

I have a Cleveland X270, a Titeist 909D, and a Taylor Made R7, I like the X270 because it is lighter.

Just demo them all, seems like the shaft length standard today is 46" or longer.

Try out a bunch and be mindful of the shaft offsets, the flight bias, the shaft stiffness and the degree of loft. I have then either bought from the local store (the previous years model or slightly used for $79-$129) or from ebay. All of the brands folks have talked about here are good. I play a Callaway now and love it. One of my sons plays a Cobra for draw and Taylor Made for straight or fade, my other son plays a Titliest and my brother plays a Cleveland. All are good and we are all pretty good golfers.

I had the superfastvfirst, bc thats what the simulator said.
Played two rounds hit 40/50 range balls had to take it back.
No control or consistency , it sets up open and I never could get comfortable with it.
Every club in my bag is titliest beside the r11.

I don't see how anyone can say an R11 product isn't long enough. I have an r9 driver that I still love and bomb regularly. broke my old 3 wood and bought a brand new R11 three wood and absolutely crush it. nearly hit as far as my driver. very long club.
