that's how it works, though. they need to go to a 1-3 voting system or something like the heisman so it doesn't look like a blowout. AR deserved it, Drew got Offensive Player of the Year. i'm happy

If Rogers is a system QB then so is Brees.

Matt Flynn stepped in and put up stats that Rodgers could only dream of and he did it against a team fighting for the playoffs. not to mention the fact that Rodgers choked in the playoffs this year as well and Brees didn't. so yea, Rodgers is a system QB.

if you take Brees off the Saints, they would end up like the Colts were without Manning. If you take Rodgers off the Packers, then they would end up just like the Patriots did a couple of years ago when Brady missed the entire season and they still finished 11-5.

That was only one game. And who knows if Flynn could've sustained that play all year like Rogers did. This is a weak argument. It's like saying Brees is a system QB because he wasn't "elite" until he came to the saints and played under Sean Payton.

yeah, that is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

Drew and Rodgers are both elite quarterbacks.

Brees never passed for more than 3200 yards in a season with San Diego.

Rodgers is a deserving MVP. But I think Brees deserved it more.

Brees was named Offensive Player of the Year...doesn't Rodgers play offense?

Brees was named FedEx Air Player of the Year, doesn't Rodgers throw the ball?

If Brees was named best at passing the ball and the best overall Offensive Player of the Year...how could Rodgers beat him for MVP?

Rodgers is not as good of a passer, not as good of an offensive player...but he is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL? Doesn't make sense.

System QBs have some of the highest rushing yards on the team?

ETA CRAAAAAP. I've finally spoken on here after my heart being ransacked after our playoff game.

posted this in another topic, but it serves as a response here as well:

Years where OPY did not win MVP:
78-OPY Earl Campbell/MVP Terry Bradshaw
80-OPY Earl Campbell/MVP Brian Sipe
82-OPY Dan Fouts/MVP Mark Moseley (Kicker)
86-OPY Eric Dickerson/MVP Lawrence Taylor (LB)
87-OPY Jerry Rice/MVP John Elway
88-OPY Roger Craig/MVP Boomer Esiason
90-OPY Warren Moon/MVP Joe Montana
93-OPY Jerry Rice/MVP Emmitt Smith
94-OPY Barry Sanders/MVP Steve Young
96-OPY Terrell Davis/MVP Brett Favre
97-OPY Barry Sanders split MVP with Favre
99-OPY Marshall Faulk/MVP Kurt Warner
01-OPY Marshall Faulk/MVP Kurt Warner(again...)
02-OPY Priest Holmes/MVP Rich Gannon
03-OPY Jamal Lewis/MVPs Peyton Manning and Steve McNair
08-OPY Drew Brees/MVP Peyton Manning
09-OPY Chris Johnson/MVP Peyton Manning
11-OPY Drew Brees/MVP Aaron Rodgers

so it happened 18 times in the 39 years of the award and only twice was a non-offensive player the MVP in the last 39 years. So it is not that rare.

and as far as the Fed-ex awards.

2007 FedEx Brett Favre/MVP Tom Brady
2008 FedEx Drew Brees/MVP Peyton Manning
2009 FedEx Drew Brees/MVP Peyton Manning
2010 FedEx Aaron Rodgers/MVP Tom Brady
2011 FedEx Drew Brees/MVP Aaron Rodgers

So...yea. It happens quite a lot for that award as well

What? This shows me you didn't watch the game. Rodgers was on target. His receivers just forgot how to catch.

Rodgers deserved to win the MVP.

wtf? who cares if he had more rushing yards. he also had many more attempts.

Rodgers only had 171 more rushing yards than Brees did lol (257yds - 86yds). not to forget that Rodgers gets sacked all the time as well.

Rodgers had a QB rating of 78.5, barely completed 50% of his passes, threw a very critical pick, and got sacked 4 times. He was not "on target" by any means. he couldn't do anything and completely shite the bed at home.

Brees on the other hand stomped out the Lions in the first round and then on the road against the 9ers brought the offense back and won that game TWICE in the final few minutes of the game.
